Well....making this video took longer than expected 😎. The Carpenter's Star is a classic and I am so happy to have one in my Stashbuster series. And I already have a special someone that has claimed this one. Be sure to check out the new colouring pages where you can play with the colours over and over again. Enjoy.

I am a old sewist but a beginner quilter and I stumbled across your channel by accident. Boy am I glad that I did! Watching your videos has taught me a tremendous amount about quilting. The jig method you showed in this video is genius!! but, I really appreciate that you show us how to lay out the fabric and cut it and how to choose the fabrics to use. Then you go step-by-step with tips along the way to actually create the quilt. You are amazing. Thank you for sharing your brilliance with the world.

I never considered making a jig for cutting my HST's. That's genius. Thank you.

I'm from North Wales, and have just finished this quilt for my friend in Toronto, its going in the post today, so I guess its coming home😂. I absolutely loved every minute of it, it was fast and easy to put together ( your hack of the diagonal tape to square up the HST was amazing!), and the finished quilt was just gorgeous, I am actually quite sad to part with it - but she is a very special friend, so I'm glad to send it to her - thank you Karen ❤

Love this. I spent a day making it using smaller 4.5 inch finished blocks and it turned out really nice. Your tips with the tape on the ruler, how to press the seams, how to cut, the tape on the sewing machine to get accurate 1/4 seams, ironing tips, using crumbs were all new to me, and really made my tasks easier and more accurate. I haven't sewn anything in years, but I knocked this out in one day! Thanks Karen!

You may have tips and tricks, but you forgot your wonderful smile and sweet voice. I don't quilt but it's fun watching your videos.

I made a miniature carpenter star almost 30 years ago I guess. But I’ve always wanted to make a big one. Thank you so much for this video. I’m really anxious to get started. Thank you.

Just watched this again as one of my grandsons has just started his carpenter's apprenticeship he is only16 and was struggling in the class room but very motivated to the practical so was thinking of making him a carpenter's star quilt for his 18th so have started thinking and planning. Just finished an indigo quilt for other grandson who loves all things Japanese. Blessings just love all your videos.

The tip to trim off 1/4" from each corner before sewing is brilliant! Thank you for that.

Well now you've gone and done it 😂 Thank you for this. (Love your channel and your work btw. Thank you so much) Im currently in over thinking mode for two weeks now and had full intentions of doing this pattern with 10x10 squares cut from yardage. Finished quilt size at 73x73 without a border. That was fine until I saw this. This is much better for sure cutting 9x9 squares from yardage. I actually have fabric at 45" width and two yards of solid colors- one dark, one light and 3 yards of the background being white. Reducing the block size down to 9x9 is nothing short of a ohhhh yeahhhh this is awesome! I hate wasting fabric and using these dimensions I have the option of adding a beautiful 4" border around it with binding and still have left overs! You gave me some serious warm and fuzzies today. Thank you and much love from BC Canada 🇨🇦 ❤

Absolutely love the tape and ruler hack! You have created your own Bloc Loc ruler.

That’s a beautiful quilt, Karen! Not my colours, but I have plenty of fat quarters in my stash in colours I *do* like, so this should be totally doable. Love your painters’ tape hacks, way cheaper than those pricey BlocLock rulers, and it achieves the same results. Congratulations on reaching 270K subscribers! When you started with those first few Dollarama hacks videos, did you ever imagine you’d build this business and be exposed to more than a quarter of a million viewers worldwide?! Your hard work and dedication has truly paid off. I wish when I lived in East York I had joined the local MQG so I could’ve met you. 😉. Maybe I’ll get the chance at a quilt show one day, now that you’re such a worldwide celebrity!! Enjoy it, you deserve it. Thanks for all your videos. ~Diana K.
