You are the first person I have found that actually showed me how to make a quilt from beginning to end with out talking to the animals and a lot of extra chat . I like just show me what you got, and let’s do it! I have been in a depression for 6 years and I think you have shown me where to get started back up out of this feel sorry for me state. I have sewn clothes and quilts all my days since the ninth grade, I am 74 years old and I can’t imagine where the time went. My sweetheart bought me a new machine last Christmas and I made a baby dress and that’s it! With God’s help and your help I am going to the basement and start going through my 55 years of scarps. I have enough to make a thousand quilts and here I have just been setting, Forgive Me all of you quilting ladies and gentlemen God bless y’all

I think "Square Dance" would suit that sweet quilt.

I do hope you read your comments. I love almost every quilt you've taught however, that's not why I'm commenting. You have saved my life twice now. Literally! The piece and joy of your tutorials have truly spoken to me. Several years ago I lost an adult child and this last year my husband of 50years. The softness of both your quilts and voice is where I go when I need a jolt of happy. Thank you!

Just found this today! I will be making a baby quilt using this idea for my 10th grandchild, due to arrive later this year. I will call it Diamonds in the sky I think. Great tutorial.

Hi Beth, well I just couldn't wait to make enough scraps, so I cut a quarter yard off a bunch of fabrics and odered about 10 fat quarter bundles from Amazon, a week after their arrival, I'm knee deep in 1" strips and have 80, 5" pieced squares and 6, 9" blocks. It's so easy and I just can't get anything else done. I haven't sewn for over 2 years, and this was just the ticket to get started again. Thank you so much, I'm back in the groove.

Cool block! You could call it "Chip Off The Block". Thank you for your videos!

It would be interesting to sew a different triangle back on after the strip. Might have to try that.

I would call it Garden Window. It's so lovely. Thanks!

I watch a lot of quilting videos. Your channel is always so relaxing and seems so stress free. Many channels spend so much time with starching, pinning, and seem to make their projects so complicated. I like your style and will watch several videos multiple times. Your quilts always end up perfect to me. ❤

Wow, you have such a great imagination when you see the potential of 5" squares. I really like this one. Reminds me of looking through a lattice trellis at a garden.

I do like the idea of making all the strips in white or same color of choice since it reminds me of a garden lattice. Always such great ideas and you inspire me to make your quilts!

What always strikes me about your quilts is how you can envision cuddling up under it…and isn’t that the essence of a quilt…you have a gift for creation of comfort

I took a class from a lovely quilter who grew up in Montana during the Depression and who is no longer with us. The pattern is similar to this idea and we used florals with white fabric strips. It was another pattern, but for her class she called it "In the Garden." It's a wonderful way to use up all those extra florals. Somewhere I read that when you buy cotton quilting fabric, buy some inches extra, depending on what you want to do with it. Cut off a 5" strip of each one and you'll have ready-made pieces to use for squares, etc. Currently, I have a small tub of them to use.

Thank you very much for this video. I made a version of it from a fat quarter bundle using 9" squares and 1.25" x 9" strips. I got four of each squares and strips from each fat quarter. The result was gorgeous.

I just found your channel this afternoon. I have a collection of batik fabrics I think would be perfect with your design. I love it.

I so agree about all the chitchat sometimes . I have been quilting quite awhile and this is a fantastic way to use up scraps.. lNot perfect but finished is perfect! This really looked kinda hard but it looked simple to make but I have to be careful about how much rotory cutting i do so I was glad to see you use the scissors to cut the one inch strip. This looked fun to do!

This is my kind of quilt, Beth. Only two rules...cut the 5" block at 3.5" from point to point and the strip is 1" wide. No other requirements. Scrappy quilts are generally random and mostly uncontrolled...love it!!
