Thank you. I was sick of hear people saying, "Just press fn+esc." since it does not work on my laptop. The fn lock button is not even on my keyboard let alone on the esc button. And I couldn't access bios using advance startup. Fortunately, your method works.

According to the manual for our new Lenovo Thinkpad, pressing the "Fn Key + Esc FnLock Key switches the key function between the standard F1–F12 function and the special function printed as an icon on each key. When the Fn Lock indicator is off, you can use the default function. You can change the default function in the Keyboard Properties window."

Pressing Fn Key + Esc FnLock Key worked for our machine, when the Volume Mute Key, the two Volume control Keys, the Brightness control Keys etc had reverted to F function keys.

Didn't work for my 2018 Lenovo Ideapad.
I tried the above, and I tried "shift-Esc" like some others say. I also tried F12 and F5. No luck. Also tried holding Shift while clicking Start-Power-Restart.
The thing that finally worked was from WITHIN windows 10, open Settings (gear icon not control panel), go to Update & Security, go to Recovery, click Restart Now, Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, UEFI Firmware Settings, Restart.
Then FINALLY I found myself in the BIOS screen as it shows at 2:00 above.
(Hey Lenovo, thanks a lot for wasting my time.)
