Most major countries in the region have congratulated Joe Biden as the next US president, though China has not, saying it will wait, it's not clear until when.
But for the rest of Asia, governments face a new reality. For the past four years, Donald Trump has shaken the foundation of what US relations mean for the region, with his tough talk and courting of traditional rivals. So what's the outlook now for America's allies and competitors in the Indo-Pacific?

This report is misleading. There are virtually no protests happening in Hong Kong recently.

0.30: I live in thailand.. and i can assure you will have a hard time here finding someone who looks up to the US as a „champion of democracy“. Most people see US politics as what it is : a failed democracy

Because Biden and trump both claim to be elected president of the United States. So what do you expect from other countries?

Even Trump hasn't conceded yet. Plus you wouldn't want to anger a sore loser who still has the nuclear codes.

"Look to the US as the champion of democracy"... I think it's best to wait until after Trump actually leaves office before referring to America as a democracy, the way things are going who knows...

The US government infringed on human rights and democracy. The WORLD should sanction the US for their behaviour, just like how the US would sanction other countries in the name of democracy and human rights.

US alliance with India will pay off handsomely in time, especially considering how EU foreign policy is so impotent it couldn't pour water out of a boot even if the instructions were written on a heel. And thats coming from a European.

I mean EU is amazing but we are bloody lost and I font know why. EU is a bloody colossus in every conceivable way; economically, diplomatically, culturally, scientifically, industrially, even militarily (united it is militarily second only to USA - a 21st century Prussia).

How is it predictable if it isn't clear who is de facto ruling the country?

The American election has not been decided. The press is not part of the American electoral system.
It is very premature to say either candidate has one, especially with the huge amount of voting "irregularities."

China and Russia are more level-headed. They don't want to make a fool of themselves.
