In this DIY video, I’ll show you how to build a 4-sided walk-in closet island. This closet island has 2 shoe racks with adjustable height shelves and plenty of shoe storage (32+ pairs). The other 2 sides have hidden storage behind sliding barn doors (homemade barn door hardware!). Build plans available → link below.

You made this look so incredibly easy. Gives me hope!☺ And thanks for giving me the idea of creating my own butcher block instead of spending $300+ on one.

On those barn door sides, you should pop them off, and pop in a few magnets below each roller, on the door and on the cabinet.. that way when you push it to the center it will kinda snap into position.. the magnets dont even need to touch, just be near eachother and they will pull the door into the closed position and add a nice tactile feel.. when you open and close it will have a very satisfying floaty snap kind of feel.

I've made a similar door before, and my girlfriend at the time suggested it and it was awesome. In a hurry I could just grab a game, push the door back and it would float across, and then just magically stop in place with no discernible snap or click... it seemed like magic. Much worth the effort.
Hope this helps.

If it wasn't clear what I meant, just ask. I'd be glad to clarify, or even send a drawing or something.

Very ingenious design and well built. Love the small barn doors and the way you built the hardware for them.

I really like the way this looks, Marie! The split shelving is a great use of tons of space!

What a great idea. I may have to build this with some slight modifications for boxes to fit in for folded clothes and a side left open for a little chair so the top doubles as a desk for my daughter's room. Maybe some casters but I love this idea. Thanks for sharing.

Nice! It could even be a kitchen island if you make adjustments to make it taller. I like how you gave credit where it's due to the Shanty sisters. I love their channel too! Really cool project. Thanks for sharing!

Hello👋! Usually the cuts from the lumber store are too rough with splinters.
Did you have to re cut the plywood with a nicer saw? Or just sanding

Any suggestions for attaching the countertop without using the clips? I don’t have a router and haven’t been able to convince myself I need one.

You should put casters on the bottom!!!
