KGM Ssangyong Torres 2025 review

preview_player
Показать описание

It's the KGM Ssangyong Torres, a new midsize SUV that's in Australia to take on the likes of the Subaru Forester and Toyota RAV4.

It is priced keenly from $38,000 drive-away, with three grades to choose from, including 2WD (front wheel drive) and 4WD (which is actually AWD with a 4x4 lock).

It isn't like any other SUV in terms of the exterior look, but Ssangyong has a history of that, right? But inside, it's an up to date and high-tech finish with big screens and lots of features in a high-spec Ultimate model.

So would you pick it? Watch the review and let me know!

I purchased a 2019 Rexton Ultimate when they were first released in Australia (Y400 platform). Now in its 5 year of ownership, I can say during this time its used for daily city commutes etc, then I use the Rex to tow our Swan Outback camper which has travelled from Melbourne to the NT during December in the peak heat times. The car has performed without fault. The only issue to date was an alternator which was replaced under warranty. Yes it doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles, the ride is twitchy and soft at the same time. But overall its a nice place to be in the cabin, tows well, not too heavy on fuel and overall the quality is excellent. My experience to date is good with great support and servicing. As the brand is growing more parts will become available for all models.. So for the haters of Ssyangyong, maybe take one of the vehicles for a test drive before commenting. You will be surprised and the money you save.

I've had my 2020 Rexton for 4 years by now. Zero issues not even a minor one. I can see why those who bought a Ssangyong once just keeps buying more. On Facebook groups it's easy to see people who've had 4, 5 or even more.

I like it. Most SUVs nowadays really look very similar. This thing has a character.

I wish KGM Ssangyong would seriously start promoting their products in Aus a bit better, more advertising, more dealers .. they have good reliable products and have been around for a long time..

I sat in one of these at a dealer last week. I was surprised by a couple of things:

- the build quality, in terms of panel fit and flushness, panel gaps, paint quality. All excellent and above average.

- the interior design, build quality and general ambience. All significantly nicer and more solid-feeling than any Chinese car I’ve sat in. Also a bonus that it didn’t smell like a $2 shop.

I’m not in the market for a car like this, but if I was I would seriously consider a Torres. It’s different, it’s cool, and it seems very nicely put together.

A diesel would be nice though, just for more torque and better economy.

I was hoping to hear your thoughts regarding over shoulder visibility with that enormous C-pillar..

I would certainly have one. I like how it looks. I can't afford one. I've never charged a phone or used any of the other tech stuff that was mentioned so that's no bother. I don't even use the cruise control. But seeing that you asked about Ssangyong owners, I thought that I'd let you know that I've had two. The first was a Musso that I had for 13 years, and I also have a Stavic that is going on for 19 years. I've only had to replace the head unit on the Stavic. Apart from that, no problems. Which reminds me, I'm way over due for a service. Better get that done so that I get a bit longer out of it.

It definitely looks great and unique, it looks better than the kia sportage.

This kgm reminds me of the older suzuki grand vitara. The torres having an aisin automatic means its more relialbe than kia and hyundai dual clutch.

The main problem is see is the lack of ac controls. This is definitely the best looking sang young vehicle i have seen in a while.

25mpg for awd is normal, almost all awd vehicles have worse fuel consumption, except for subaru vehicles.

At 8:03 when you show the phone and cable. If you have the phone the right way up, there is a hole so you can hide the cable and feed it through, so no need to have the phone upside down like you had it :) very nice car and drives really nice to

I know it's not the same off road type, but I finally ordered the Honda CR-V AWD Sports Premium here in NZ today. Comes with that wonderful 1.5L Turbo, 140kw and 240Nm. I would say a good option to this?
