I joked with a friend at the much welcomed introduction of Devin that, all too soon, Devin would be left bloodied and battered, weeping in a corner complaining that others came and stole his lunch money. The Devin paradigm is simply managing and applying coding LLMs in a given way that emulates what coders do. ALL of the majors will quickly present the same, as well as independents like the maker of Devika. Next will be abstracting further toward full architecting assistant - no doubt coming in as little a a few months.

I'm looking forward for the moment when I can order Devika to create a site LIKE [insert site url] as a starting point and then order it to change or add a feature - the really cool thing would be if Devika become in doubt it should ask me for an example by asking me "please provide a link to a guide/tutorial demonstrating this feature or behavior".

didnt devica have a user interface? or do you need to install all those programs? i am on a chromebook. just want to go to website and start the application. like nexusgpt has an interface online.

The codebase is pretty rudimentary, but it works as intended. I like the effort from the creator and the capability of the project, but it's just that, a fun little side project capable of only outputting basic python code repos if anything.

Since a LAM isn't used, the 'agents' aren't actual agents because they don't know how to interact with their environment and perform physical actions like reading, writing, and deleting files, given their read-only chatbot finite state automata. The python server is force saving any generated code and hoping it compiles properly when the end user runs it, which is by design since the chatbot model can't do that by itself, but fault intolerant since there's no CI/CD in place. There's a lot of room for improvement but I would totally not go the SWE agent route, make something more specialized because software engineering is infinite, cheers :)
