This one is Affleck's to lose. If he loses here, it'd be purely punitive since the performance itself was brilliantly executed (and the biggest snub since... I can't even remember tbh just know that it'd be up there along with the likes of Clift, Barrymore, Burton, etc.). He carries the movie on his shoulder, and never lets it down one bit. Washington gave a great performance but it was nowhere near being on this level. Garfield and Mortensen gave respectable performance as well, and deserves the nominations. Gosling is rather undeserving of this nomination, and it should've gone to Edgerten's stint in Loving which was superior. A weak category overall, compared to last year except for Affleck which is IMO the best performance by a male actor since Daniel Day Lewis' performance in There Will Be Blood.
