Impressive that one guy can be so well rounded in creating a game. Coding, art, level design, music, business side, etc. I know personally it would be extremely difficult to create levels to where they flow together in a way that’s fun and make sense.

I really liked that review, however, it would be nice to know why it's "only" 9/10 points since the video script didn't mention any negative aspects

Imagine my happiness. I beat the first game yesterday. Loved it, and the sequel just released! I wasn't even aware the sequel was a thing before today!

I love the idea of metroidvanias but I could never get into them after trying Hollow Knight and Messenger. Axiom Verge 2 was fun but the map system is not so good. The abilities are fantastic and I think the difficulty was just right. I appreciated the weapon types and also the difficulty slider. I went back to play Axiom Verge 1 for the first time and I can say that the 1st is overall way more fun for me though.

The game crushes the first in every way. Simply Amazing.

I made the decision to do my first playthrough of this on the hardest settings (enemies deal double damage, while you only deal 20% of your normal damage) and it felt like a pretty fair challenge. Took me 15 hours on my first playthrough and I got 83% of the items.

What I'm trying to say is, the enemies must die hella fast on normal settings. You should try to play like this as well. It's tedious at times but still not unfair.

SPOILERS

So in the end this game is an origin story for the Rusalka Ophelia? There are many hints all around. Even Drushka (who if I remember correctly was mentioned in the first game's collectible tablets) mentions that they're planning on transferring human minds into machines to prolong their lives. Also, in one of the slabs it's mentioned Indra loves Shakespeare, and "Ophelia" was actually a character that drowned in Hamlet... the same fate Indra experienced at the beginning o the game.

One thing the sequel needs is boss rush. Its a Metroidvania staple and I was hoping for it at the end of the first game

The tear mechanic I'm afraid will push me away metroid prime echos really turned me against it like guacamelee 1 and 2 I'm going to try it but have really been on fence about it because of the reviews and that part were I loved the first 1 and loved wasn't a souls hard game but this 1 dosent seem to have the same hook the first 1 when I saw it

The combat unfortunately looks really lackluster ... Which was imo originally the highpoint of its predecessor.

Ah man.... IGN's review has me seriously worried about this game. Hearing that the combat lacks challenge & is unispired has me very disappointed. You'd think they would have polished the combat a LOT more than this. Weapon & ability upgrades should literally be required to defeat certain opponents. Upgrades shouldn't be an afterthought or an optional luxury, that is a sign of bad game design. It's unlike Metroid, where your Super Missiles & Super Bombs and such end up being required to handily beat certain bosses. The combat in this game should have a similar polish. It's very disappointing to hear that the combat is so unpolished, specially to a seasoned pro gamer such as myself. I don't think I will be buying the game after all.
