CoCo 2 - RF Modulator Upgrade

Watch as I replace the RF modulator in my Tandy Color Computer 2 with a composite video upgrade and then take the computer for a spin. The composite upgrade is sold by The Zippster Zone and can be found here:

I also test out the composite module's black-and-white mode and run TRS-80 Color Baseball through a quick demo of its self-play mode. If you watch that part, you'll see why being a commentator is not the job for me.

If you have any questions/comments about this video, you can find me in any of these fine locations:

The CoCoTALK! Discord Server
The TRS-80 Color Computer (CoCo) group on Facebook
The CoCo Crew Podcast group on Facebook

Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much for this! I read the installation instructions for the composite upgrade and figured it was beyond my ability...but your walkthrough made me change my mind. I appreciated your thoughtful presentation. My only criticism: As a complete newbie when it comes to electronics, I'd have appreciated a camera angle that captured more of your process (and less sped-up footage, so I could actually see what you were doing and how you were doing it); I may be the exception there, though. (This was the first video of yours I watched.)

Wish there was something like this for the MC-10. My first-ever computer and learned not long after finding one (that works) on ebay that there are lots of weird things they've done including using the serial port (aka bit banger) to interface with other devices [server] and extend it to having a [virtual] DOS! You're probably aware of it -- drive wire? I never got around to setting up a raspberry pi or the server on a PC but I did manage to send "requests" from the MC-10 to a terminal emulator on my work PC :) It was thrilling to see!

On my wish list is some sort of "anything but channel 3-4 video out" and "some sort of keyboard interface going to USB or PS2...preferably USB."

Done anything like that?
