I have read many Japanese comments on Li's passing. Almost all of it were condolences and praise for his honest character. Japanese also seem to think it's a purge.

Today I went onto Bili Bili (China's YouTube). Normally when a CCP member or someone important in China dies, .the site would be black and white. Something similar on Weibo out of respect. But nothing of the sort after Li's death. He was obviously not favored by Xi's faction or the press.
