Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Moog has received a lot of news coverage over the last few months - for better or worse.

Today we are going to talk about Spectravox and as I might be the only synth person on the internet who didn’t get either their CS-80 for suburban dads or totally AI-free music generating Buchla ripoff, I have to resort to the strange one that seems like a more expensive version of that FX pedal they released 20 years ago.

Strangely enough, this is by far the best demo of the Spectravox I've heard yet

At first glance, it's ticking all the voxes.

The Roland Cloud shaming at the end triggered my “press that like button” instincts

I must say: Your jams always blow me away. You are one of the few "synth guys" on youtube that _actually_ are musical and not just reading off of a spec sheet. Bravo!

Using my "Moog clones the Behringer CS-80" meme in this week's video is my favorite brithday gift, thanks once again for including me in the fun Florian.

Old school Goa 🙏😭

I hope I'm not only one who dreams of an AudioPilz synth course in the future... The sound design in your jams is always top notch and you seem to have seemingly infinite knowledge on all the old school music genres in a way that I can only aspire to 🙇‍♀

Leave it bad gear to be the first vid to make me actually want this thing

The final tune was seriously ticking all my mid-90s acid flashback boxes.

We need Klangfarbe to get your hands on a Subharmonicon to complete the Moog Studio saga and tick all the boxes

your jams in this video are some of the best from the channel

Huh. One immutable law of synth history is that machines which fail at their intended task will be reborn as classics when used for other purposes. Moog seems to have sped up the process. It's not a great vocoder, but it is far more interesting when doing anything but being a vocoder.

Florian, this is one of my favorite episodes so far!. The old school analog goa track is a total banger!. I was very hesitant to give it a try to the spectravox, but haven’t seen your episode, made me include this one on my ‘to purchase list’ (once the economy smile back at us again). Thanks again mate!. Sincerely Sid

I bought one. It was a great educational tool. It taught me the difference between thinking I know wtf I’m doing with a mother32+dfam + a few foogers, and actually knowing dick about synthesis. Good demo, perhaps I should pull it back out of the for sale pile and give it another try.

Idk...I kept thinking that MOOG does filter right. Probably the coolest sounding intro. Actually grabbed my ear. Im into ACID, and this sounded plenty squelchy and filter sweepy.

This is the best demo of Spectravox I have seen. As a vocoder for vox it is challenging to use I am sure, but as a processor I think it sounds spectacular. Great work!

I think that's the best intro yet, it just sounds right!

Sounds sweet... Not many of these Moog semi-modulars are particularly versatile (e.g. DFAM, Subharmonicon), but they do well at creating amazing unique sounds

I am a fan! Great video as usual. The way you approach gear, the humor, the visuals, everything! And your "jams" are all very creative, great sounding and very musical. As a long time keyboard player/producer who has owned the majority of classic vintage synths in the past almost 5 decades, I really appreciate what you do. Thank you!😀
