AMD's X870 boards are nearly here but we're doing a preview of one of the most highly-anticipated boards - MSI's MPG X870E Carbon WiFi.

MSI's Carbon boards rarely miss the bullseye in terms of offering a huge amount for your cash and this one is no exception. We're looking at an incredible feature set including the latest tool-free 'EZ DIY' enhancements that make this one the easiest mosterboards EVER to work with.
It's seriously impressive so before our full review goes live, lets take a sneak peak at what makes it an awesome choice for a Socket AM5 motherboard, perhaps to pair with AMD's Ryzen 9000 X3D models due soon.

Thanks to @MSIGamingOfficial for sending it over!

That's for the video - these new AMD 870 boards look superb and probably would aim for these boards + AMD AM5's over my current (soon to be built) Toasty I7 G14 + 790 Intel Board

6:30 Are those sticky heatsinks? Wouldn't that be a problem if you want to add more M.2 drives or change the one you already have if the cover is stuck to the previous M.2 drive?
How is removing then replacing the M.2 cover work with the sicky heatsink strips?

looks a nice upgrade from the MSI MEG ACE X570 if your looking to swap platform to am5 price is roughly the same too at £400 as the x570 was in 2020 and no silly cooling fan on the board.

That M2 heatsink finger clips. It looks nice and easy on the desk. But how easy is it once it is in a case up against the PCI brackets?

Is the extra PCIe 8 pin power required? What advantage does it give compared to all the mobos that do not have one? Decent first glance at this mobo!

The 3 M.2s are gonna go bunkers hot next to each other + being under the GPU…

It’s even worse than in my X670E Ace mobo, putting two M.2s next to each other (2nd and 3rd slot defined by manual) would easily bring them to 60+ degree Celsius and when running a disk mark benchmark the one being benched would go upwards of 70

can it be used without the m.2 heatsink? the m.2 i bought came with a larger heatsink already.

According to the manual, when installing a GPU "Ensure that the EZ PCIe Release Button is in the locked position. If it is unlocked,
press the button to lock it." And when removing a GPU, "Ensure that the EZ PCIe Release Button is in the unlocked position. If it is locked,
press the button to unlock it."

You used ez pcie latch wrong. As it says at the manual(p.36) you need to put it at the locked position.

what would you actually connect to the PCIE PWR1 at the bottom? I am about to switch to this motherboard and the one i have for now doesn't have this

MSI needs to do 'project zero' x870/e motherboards.

The Carbon series used to be more mid-range. Now it costs $500.00 US. Dayem.

This is the most beautiful mobo I have seen in my life. Too bad I can't afford it.

I bought this MSI X870E carbon mobo, but I cannot install AMD 7800XT drivers. I keep getting error 1603.
