Hierba mora, also called just mora in Central America, is a leafy-green in the solanaceous farmily plant that grows wild in many parts of the Americas. Black nightshade, hierba mora is a weed in many parts of the Americas. The plant produces black/purple berries which are considered to be toxic; they are removed when the plant is harvested/sold. In my household, the plant has been used for soups; and while cleaning the leaves we discover caterpillars. These caterpillars are inchworms; and are the larvae of a variety of moth species. I promise the caterpillars are not consumed and are released back to the yard.
