Fantastic advice! I had to learn the hard way the first time I didn’t read the instructions on the DR package 🤣 (my favorite strings ever!), they are a joy to play indeed and seem to have a more defined tone to my hear.

I'm learning. I buy cheap $100 ish guitars and practice on them. Thus far I am proud to say I have a few "cheap" guitars that are pretty cool and I'm getting better at it all the time.

Great video, as always. Kris, I must say you've helped me so much, and now I set up both my guitars myself and also help my friends with setting up their guitars. Keep it up, Kris! Thanks so much!

Great video Kris, I am so glad you covered this, I am looking to upgrade my guitars soon to round core strings and did not know that there were different methods for vintage tuners as opposed to regular hole on the side tuners, God Bless and Thank you !

Or don't cut till after you have wound on the string and the tuning peg does your crimping

Hey Chris,
Wieder was dazu gelernt.
Danke für den tip Erklärbär 🐻😄

How does one install round cores on a Floyd Rose setup? Anyone know of any vids that address this?

I never knew this can be problem with roundcore, as this is exactly the way how I string my guitars with any strings (well on Gibson type, I do the Z-lock, so first bend as you do, then as the string exit the post another bend backwards. Dunno what it achieves, but doing it this way, they stay better in tune).

On a Fender style where does the kink go? Inside the hole, before the hole or after the hole?

Interesting debate: on a bass where the bridge saddles are is not too far from the slots or holes that secure the ball ends, what do you do if the strings have that “silk” end wrap and it onto the saddle (best example is the Gibson 3 point bridge on the Les Paul Junior DC.) Some say just leave it as is, others say to try to remove it so the metal part of the string is touching the saddle.

You know that thing where you pick up a trick for something all on your own, then you see a video describing that EXACT method to you and it almost feels like someone read your journal/diary or something? That's how it felt hearing that string measuring trick with the tuning pegs explained.

Hey do locking tuners require the same installation process? And do we do a 90° bend after around 2 more pegs on a 7 string with 7 in a row tuners as well?

Would this be necessary with locking tuners?
