I'm surprised to see how the old exchange server version 2016 is automatically showing in exchange 2019 ECP without doing anything!!

When you install 2019 server, do you use brand new server or existing 2016 exchange server. In our org we do have 2016 servers and I wanting to upgrade to 2019 but every time I do install its upgrading the existing server than installing brand new 2019 server?
