After building your compost pile its best to leave it for about 3 days before flipping. After the first flip you want to flip it every second day. This is the best practice to achieve good compost in the least amount of time, 18 days if done correctly. If you miss a couple of days or deviate in any way from this pattern you will still get compost, in the end, it will just take longer. If you have time its not such a bad idea to let nature do the work and flip less.

In our courses, we will cover ways of making long-term compost piles that require very little effort and will still return beautiful compost that you can use in your garden. When starting your farm or garden you will likely put in the effort early to get as much compost as possible. After your farm's demand for fresh compost starts to reduce you can begin to transition your composting practices to a flip less system. A mature composting regime can be much more efficient requiring a minimal amount of effort.

In our physical and online courses, we will teach you multiple composting techniques and how to transition a short-term high effort composting regime to a longterm minimal effort system.
