Crew deserves decent salary paid by the company from the price of the cruise that is advertised. Customer should never be responsible for paying employees, that is 100 % employer responsibility.

Nope ...I hand out more in cash for tips...my room stewards, waiters and bartenders always love me

I always tip a little extra, the crew works extremely hard to make sure the cruise experience is great...

The FCC just forced the cable industry to disclose all fees, taxes, add ons, etc as one upfront price. The cruise lines should be forced to do the same with gratuties and other required expenses expected of cruisers. They need a good slap in the face...NOW.

The cruise lines do pay personnel wages except for the ones who work for tips. Just pay them as part of your booking . Those employees who are paid under the gratuities section receive board and room from the cruise lines but their income is gratuities. So just think of this as part of your cost of cruising not something extra. If you think you'd save money if they paid these people a wage you'd be terribly wrong. Prices would go up and your service would go down. We all receive far better service from the gratuities paid people simply because they are under the system.

On the don't be the drunk no one wants to be near. We were on the Mardis Gras, and this couple were sooo pissed, and still drinking. Loud and obnoxious. We saw her later sprawled on the bar and looked like she couldn't move.

Crew may work hard, but they work for the cruise line and it is the responsibility of the cruise line to pay them.

Or do you tip TSA agents as they work hard as well? Are your tips paying for gambling staff if you don't gamble? Are those tips going to the Yacht Club staff when you are not allowed in the Yacht Club?

Tips are for crew members who go beyond to do more than their basic job. Go ahead and tip them.

I tip anyone I see doing a good job and performing. Not interested in tipping the bottom third of performers on the ship.

All of these rules should be common sense, but these days it seems a lot of people don’t have that.

The automatic gratuity is devided. I would much rather give thr individual worker the tip they deserve so they know exactly what they did to deserve the tip and grow from it, not just a tip from a mass group of people, it does nothing for incentivation when everyone gets it for no special reason

once it is the norm to tip your doctors/ garbage collector / postal mail delivery / grocery store worker / custom @ border, then you might have a point, otherwise, i 'll call it BS.

I dont believe in tipping and wont be doing so. Not an unspoken rule for me 🤷🏼‍♀️
