Took him 35 seconds to explain something that other Youtubers take 15 minutes to explain

Great information Scotty, there's folks out there who have no clue what type of oil, coolant, or transmission fluid are required for their cars, folks need to educate themselves and stop being clueless

Knew some people in Texas that had just water in their engines after the long freeze we had this year. Costly mistake.

I told this to an old coworker of mine and he just looked at me and said “ehh it’ll be fine”

It also lubricates and is a corrosion protectant. You will rust out your water pump vanes and your freeze plugs if you run straight water. I speak from the hard lesson of experience.

Learned long ago to use only distilled water and antifreeze in a car.

I just did a coolant flush on my car yesterday. Although I have been running water for the past year, not one spec of rust in the water I drained. I was very pleased.

Only run it on pure water if your antifreeze levels are danger to empty. The car overheats quickly. I learned from experience.
Rolled down the windows, put the heat on high and Max, pulled over in a Walgreens parking lot, called the fire department, all on a hot summer day.

Had a neighbor that put straight anti freeze in his vintage corvette and wondered why he kept replacing radiators

This isn't very accurate, and that's why we don't call ethylene glycol "antifreeze" in Aus.

This is corrosion inhibitor. That's what it does. Yes, it lowers the temperature at which the water will freeze, but it doesn't prevent it from freezing. It also doesn't prevent it from boiling.

More often than not, it makes about 3-10C difference in the freezing/boiling point.

It's function is to prevent your motor from corroding from the inside

The last time i was here this early, I was trying to drive to Clarksville TN so Scotty could autograph the dash of my fully restored 94' Celica.

I use AutoZone 100% mixed with Life Water in my 1999 Lexus ES300. Runs like a dream and even doubled my gas mileage when I started adding life water. 270, 000 miles no check engine lights. Double prong spark plugs with the post. And I live in the Rocky mountains in Colorado. But I from Providence Rhode Island.

You dont use just water because it EXPANDS when frozen and destroys your engine and radiator also rusts. The same is true for you screen washers, just water will destroy your water pump and push hoses off.

People, remember! Coolant fluid also lubricates water pump! I destroyed my first car, because when my coolant level was low, I poured only tap water into cooling system.

Unless in racing (mean high drag strip speeds, or fast lap times) applications only use distilled.
