Phillip Schofield said he has “lost everything” in the wake of his affair with a younger male colleague and he told of the “catastrophic effect” on his mind.

The former This Morning presenter, 61, said the fallout from the revelations had been “relentless”.

Speaking to the BBC’s Amol Rajan, he referred to the criticism he has faced since admitting the affair, saying: “Do you want me to die? Because that’s where I am.

“It is relentless, and it is day after day, after day after day."

He has lost everything - except his millions of pounds, multiple properties, and the ability to live a comfortable retirement with no financial worries so long as he keeps out of the spotlight. He’s not apologising here, he’s trying to emotionally blackmail people into feeling sorry for him, whilst plugging a “legal and consensual” relationship, ignoring the fact he was the most powerful person in that TV show, hitting on the most powerless and vulnerable person in the workplace. It was a huge abuse of power, and if he wanted to have this relationship, he should have done the right thing and resigned his role, come out to his wife, then separate from her beforehand.

How dare he be so narcissistic and self centred. For his own sake he should take himself off to a dark corner and live quietly without fanfare. But of course narcissists cannot live without an audience, so maybe in that sense, he’s telling the truth that his life is in danger.
