Parts of the U.S. are now seeing smoke from out-of-control wildfires burning in western Canada, spurring air quality alerts in parts of many central and western states. Experts warn the smoke will shift further east to places like Chicago and St. Louis and could linger for days. Chris Stockdale, a wildland fire research officer with the Canadian Forest Service, has more.

Thank you to the many American fire fighters who have travelled north to help fight these fires.

Its really hard to breathe outside and really miss that blue sky in Edmonton. The people in the country losing their homes is very sad.

I live in the central interior of BC and it was 30 C, which never happens. Forests are dry and this get a lot worse.

We just returned from a trip to Glacier National Park, by our last day on Sat the skies had began to clear, we could make out some of the peaks at Lake McDonald. We did make it to the east side of the park which was much clearer and breathtaking. Everyone that worked the park kept apologizing for the visibility but I found it just fine, we had a great time! By the time we had landed in Salt Lake City, the air was thick with smoke.

Reminds me of that time in New England 1780, sun was completely blotted by Canadian forest fires so dark many thought it was the end of days. I told everybody to just CHILL SON relax 💯💯💯
