Canada Wildfires Lead to Air-Quality Alerts in Northeastern US

More than 400 active fires were burning across Canada, prompting thousands to evacuate their homes. Smoke from hundreds of wildfires in blanketed New York City on Tuesday morning. Air quality alerts were posted throughout the Northeast. Canada is on pace for its worst-ever wildfire season on record, with approximately 8.2 million acres burned so far this year, according to data from the Canadian government.

Hey guys, I am a Calgarian firefighter, the wildfire is spreading due to environmental issues, this happened on July in 2023, the wildfire in Canada has stopped recently in November, most of the Canadian environment was roughly the same air quality as in Mumbai India, wildfires have been causing from very hot weather, campfires, etcetera, if anyone is camping, add a minimal of wood and paper, try to be cautious when camping before the smoke can go in your lungs and cause breathing issues.

It's crazy here in Philadelphia. It's filled the sky so much that the sun looks red and orange at different times. The sky goes dark sooner than it should. It smells like burning wood and sawdust. Asthma attacks and headaches are popping up constantly.

This started slowly becoming a problem Tuesday evening, and it has exploded rapidly Wednesday morning.

Anyone living in the smokey areas, a good air filter and box fan can make your house suck significantly less. Close all the windows and run the box fan with filter behind it.

They are setting a backfire. A backfire when used correctly burns up fuel ahead of the more intense wildfire. It can be an effective method to slow, turn, or halt the head of a wildfire. In some instances it can be used to create a buffer or corridor to safely bring in ground crews to fight the fire.

I’m a 12 year old. Just came from school. I saw this outside and i thought the world was ending. The school was distributing kn95 masks. Witch are the only masks that can protect you during this situation. The gym witch was everyone was going home from was smoky inside. I kept my mask on. This was a horrific experience for me! I hope this smoke goes away soon! Stay safe out there people!

For everybody asking. Yes the helicopter is dropping a flammable substance that is ignited as it’s dropped out of the tank into the forest. Why is he doing this? Because they use a controlled burn to create a fire break to stop the raging forest fires. Fighting fires with fires
