Your video, about Pella fiberglass frame windows, sold me. I like that you can get them triple pane and the frames foam filled.

Can we get a head to head comparison of Aluminum to Fiberglass (specifically Pella’s Impervia). I am and ing a hard time understanding why someone would pick one ver the other. Aside from maybe cost of Aluminum being a little higher (I would think) aren’t we talking essentially the same/similar durability, performance, strength etc? What reasons would you pick aluminum over Fiberglass and vice versa, what reasons would you pick Fiberglass over Aluminum? Appreciate the video content as always.

Y'all in the USA have more efficient aluminum/aluminium window options than we do as standard. Most of our aluminium windows and doors in Australia for new builds are pretty much all single pane, clear (non-low E) with no thermal breaks. Thermally broken aluminium doors and windows here are ridiculously expensive. Asking for vinyl or thermally broken aluminium ends up tripling or quadrupling the cost for a new build glazing wise.

I need to replace windows, and I have no idea what we want. We live in NC and everybody gets Vinyl. So why the extra price of Aluminum or Fiberglass? What are the benefits of Aluminum over Vinyl? Or Fiberglass over Vinyl?

I live in South Florida where it’s hot and sunny year round. I’ve had 4 different companies give me quotes and each one tells me something different between vinyl and aluminum . I hate being lied to or upsaled . So who do I believe? 1 guy told me that aluminum is better in south Florida and another told me vinyl is better . So guy that pushed aluminum said that vinyl is only good for houses up north and that it actually preserves more eat in the house then aluminum ? What is true and what is false?

In Central Florida, aluminum single pane, blower door test shows tight seal, windows work, but likely inefficient. Like doing my own work. Any thoughts?

Would you recommend Fleetwood aluminum windows & doors in west central Illinois? If not, what would you recommend? We have two large (7'4"w x 12'10"h) sliding doors & 3 stationary panels. Covered & west facing. Wish you were closer.

Hi Jeff, I am in Dallas where it is either extremely hot or extremely cold. I was talking to a window company today and mentioned these thermo-break aluminum windows. They say the only reason these aluminum windows are able to pass the energy code is because they took all the numbers and averaged it. And with the new energy code coming out in October of this year, these alum window will not be able to pass the new code. What are your thoughts on this?
