HP G72 Review

My review of the HP G72 17" laptop computer. This is a good basic laptop, but is it worth the $500 price tag?

i have this exact computer. Im using it right now. The track pad actually works great for me, it's very responsive and I've never had a problem with it. The battery life SUCKS! And i've had it for a year now and i might need a new oen because this week the screen started flashing like crazy.

i still have it after 5 years its amazing for upgrades i got it for the disk drive which no other laptop had in the store

Still have it.. runs good. Never broke on the top lid, best laptop ever had.

The nice thing about these newer HPs is that you have the option to do a "minimum image restore." Basically, it's just a system restore without all the bloatware.

@Somethingproductable The buttons on this dang thing are so stiff. I'm used to very clicky buttons. My main problem with the trackpad is that it doesn't always pick up my finger, so I'm moving my finger around, and the cursor remains still. X_X

PC manufactures don't understand what the term "center" means. All PC laptops now a days have a trackpad in the corner of the laptop.

@jackalfur Thank you for your constructive comment. I don't usually get those. ;-) In my experience, the HP Adviser and other utilities didn't help my grandmother at all. It mostly just confused her and got in the way. xD

@welove2skate There should be a preinstalled application that can take advantage of the webcam (if you have one). Cyberlink Youcam, perhaps?

That trackpad DOES look horrible. I have the compaq presario which has the same trackpad without the stupid stuff all over it. And I had no problem with the buttons.

@Technoguy3 Welp, The trackpad picks up my finger very easily because it doesn't have textured junk on it. And the buttons ended breaking in for me. But I normally just tap the trackpad to click.

My dad got a g72 just because of the 17.3" screen and best buy ripped him off because it cost $649.99 when he bought it when it was supposed to cost $529.99.

This laptop is definitely worth 500. It has a 17 inch screen and a full size keyboard. BTW It has switchable graphics meaning it has both a Amd radeon card and a intel HD graphics card. All g72's have this
