SATS and intro to muzzle training 2016 4 23

Brief demonstration of how to introduce muzzle training with SATS.

Repetitions are mostly omitted, in order to focus on the order of concepts presented. In SATS, rather than working with rote repetition and learning through trial and error, the task is explained to the animal.

Each necessary idea is explained (Name & Explain) and demonstrated to the animal before the task is attempted, and each part of the task is then taught in a progression of logical steps, with support vie the Terminal and Intermediate Bridges.

It took several sessions wearing a muzzle and getting feedback and being kept busy through moving, information and task work, for this dog to learn to not bother the muzzle. Often, the muzzle is used for work on tolerating touch from people, something this dog finds very difficult. So, although the muzzle is used for work he generally does not like, he is fine with the task of getting the muzzle on and wearing it.
