As INSPECTOR MORSE fans know, Morse flaunts his college education over Detective Sergeant Lewis at times--but not in this fun scene.

This scene manages to be gently funny and deeply sad at the same time. Morse had so little happiness in his life, and he's even denied an exotic bird in his garden.

(YouTube prefaced this video with an ad for Corona beer. Morse would squirm in disgust.)

Lewis and Morse were a bit like a married couple. They loved each other in a platonic way, but also irritated each other.

Watching this episode is such an emotional experience that I can hardly make myself do it. Have to be in the right mood.
The final scene is totally heartbreaking. Lewis' love and respect for Morse was beautiful to watch as it developed. And their relationship was comfortable enough that he could make a little jab like the one in this scene without damaging that relationship.

It's not Inspector Morse, it's *CHIEF* Inspector Morse. Remember that! Love from Kerala, India

It'a funny that Morse of the books is nothing like his TV counterpart. He's younger and rougher, a bit like Jack Regan.

It’s sad I’m the fact that he never took up any hobbies or interests all his life - Lewis did

I loved young Endeavour but Morse is a bitter, patronising and sarky character. I haven't warmed to these two at all.
Fred Thursday is the man ❤
