I took my younger siblings to see this in theaters and right at the scene where Moses parts the sea my youngest brother spilled his drink all over me. Afterwards it was a family joke that he made the movie a 3D experience for me.

“Though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill.” *That hit hard.*

Whether you're a religious person or not, there's no denying how powerful this song is. It's been over fifteen years since I first saw this movie, and this song still gives me chills.

It’s sad that Val Kilmer passed away yesterday. Val did an amazing job voiced Moses from The Prince of Egypt. R.I.P. Val Kilmer (1959 - 2025)

My wife and I met in high school, and she was in the school chorus. Our senior year of high school the Chorus sang this song, except the majority of the song was sung only by my wife. Every time I think of this song I hear it in her voice, and it’s gotten me through a lot of rough deployments.

I have always loved and preferred this over the Whitney/Mariah pop version. The choir at the end was just hair-raising!

I can't even emphasis how much better this holds up than the pop version.

This movie was probably the best thing to come out of Dreamworks animations. And with soundtrack coming from the legendary Hans Zimmer too.

I just watched this for the first time the other night and when the little girl started singing in Hebrew I completely LOST it. Children shouldn't have to be subjected to the horrors this movie portrayed, but to see them come out of it with more hope and joy than ever was so powerful. And to do it in a way that's historically accurate and culturally sensitive? I'm not religious in any way, but I can appreciate a masterpiece when I see one. Bravo, Dreamworks. Bravo.

“We were moving mountains long before we knew we could” has got to be my favorite line. Gives me goosebumps.

R.I.P. Val Kilmer. The greatest actor to ever play Moses.

that little girls voice pierces though every layer of emotional defense you have and reachs you.

The Hebrew children are singing a condensed version of the “Song of the Sea, ” or “Shirat HaYam, ” which can be found in Exodus 15:1 – 18.

Ashira l'adonai; ki gaoj ga-ah
Ashira l'adonai; ki gaoj ga-ah
Mi chamocha baelim adonai
Mi kamocha nedar ba kodesh
Nachita v'chas-d'cha am zu ga-alta
Nachita v'chas-d'cha am zu ga-alta
Ashira, ashira, ashira

I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed gloriously (2x)
Who is like You in the heavens, O Lord?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness?
In Your mercy, You lead the children You have redeemed
In Your Love, You lead the people You redeemed
I will sing, I will sing, I will sing

It's from the Exodus, Chapter 15. It's something like:
I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed greatly
I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed greatly
Who is like You, O Lord among the gods.
Who is like You, glorious in holiness.
In Your loving kindness and guidance you
redeemed this people.
I will sing, I will sing, I will sing.

The fact that they're turning this film into a Broadway show makes me scream, if I ever got to see a Broadway show it'll have to be this one.

don't get me wrong, i like the mariah and whitney version i really do, but this version is more meaningful, more personal, than the other version mostly because of the hebrew lyrics that are being sung, but also the sense of victory and achevemnet that you hear in this version compared to other version!
listening to this song after facing some sort of anti-semitism, helps me heal, and makes me remember that i am proud to be jewish! AND WOULDN'T GIVE UP MY JEWISHNESS FOR ANYTHING!

The fact that I've never watched this movie, and yet I am absolutely immersed in the song and tearing up speaks volumes
