And for the 90% of buyers who aren't shopping for EVs and Hybrids, I highly recommend the Mazdas that did not make the list. CX-5 & CX-50.

Your reviews have been SO helpful the past few weeks as I've been researching new cars! This video was so good especially when you compared all the cars in the compact class I'm considering! Being someone who keeps a car for MANY years, maybe too long, I find that I'm looking at all new technology, engines, etc. I've always had Toyotas, but I am now seriously considering the Kia Sportage Hybrid or PHEV due to all the value that's built in. I wish it had been out for longer to determine the reliability, but for the price and warranty it's SO much more reasonable than the RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium or the Prime I thought I was going to buy. Thanks for all of your great videos!!

You are my top channel for car reviews. You guys are the most honest and transparent in terms of cars. You made my car buying decision lot better. I bought the Venza because of your reviews. Highlander is the next one.

Andrea and Zack - Thank you for producing good and informative videos. I too am a Canadian and I live in Saskatoon Saskatchewan where we have ‘winter’ driving conditions for more than 5 months out of the year. I am sure that there are many other areas of Canada where their winters are similar. It is unfortunate that you are unable to do real winter testing for your viewers, especially as many of us want to know just how well these vehicles provide heat when it is cold out. My wife’s Nissan, does an abysmal job of providing heat in the winter and in the summer the air conditioning is marginal, and this seems true of many brands. For me, Honda has now priced themselves out of the market, and with their very limited trim choices, even more so. I had considered the new HRV but found it terribly underpowered, even in a province as flat as Saskatchwewan. I like your top pick in the Kia Sportage, although, like many viewer, am hesitant to maker the purchase, given their terrible engine quality history and their poor dealer support. I know you may have a great dealer for Kia/Hyundai in Vancouver, but here in the prairies, our dealers are really lacking. Nissan is still having problems with their JATCO (a Nissan owned company) CVT transmissions, with the local dealership here replacing over 45 of them in the past year to date. Subaru also suffers from a limited dealer network across Canada, and our local Saskatoon dealership seems to have a lot of negative feedback from vehicle owners, even though they tend to like their vehicles. Please, try to offer your very loyal viewers a more balanced bit of coverage by doing winter testing as well. Thanks very much.

Happy to see my pick come out on top. Had an EX hybrid for about 2 months now and liking it. It's not perfect - I think Kia needs to put the projector headlights in every Sportage, not just the top models, because the reflector units are kind of poor (and received that rating on the NHTSA tests).

Love those quick summary top thing cars/SUVs videos, crossed your channel when I was on the market for new truck last year, not on market for any new vehicle anymore but I am still here year later, right on point, no BS, important informations and easy to follow content, love it, keep up amazing work, cheers V! And one more thing, maybe in the future would be cool to add to the reviews how loud (easy measure with sound/noise meters) vehicles really are, thank you.

In 2019, my wife bought a new Mini Countryman 'S' and I bought a Kia Sportage SX. On paper, my car had it beat in price, technology and options. I truly believed that I had bought the better car. Four years later her car has 40, 000 miles and everything is still perfect. The paint still shines like new - with not a single rock chip to be found, the engine and transmission work flawlessly, the seat bolsters have zero wear, the car drives laser straight and she never had to make a single warranty claim. My car on the other only has 15, 000 miles and has rock chips everywhere, not only on the bumper but even on the hood (warranty was denied as normal 'wear & tear'), seat bolster is worn and thread is frayed (warranty denied as normal 'wear & tear'), strange surges at 3, 000-5, 000 RPM's for no reason (warranty denied as they do not know how to fix it), small transmission drip (warranty denied because it wasn't severe enough 'keep an eye on it' he said), car pulls to the right (warranty denied as this is the crown in the road- yet the Countryman doesn't have this problem). It is then I realized that when new, the Kia looks great but they have to cut corners somewhere to get it to that price point and what they cut are the "hidden" items like: paint quality, gaskets, interior materials, legit warranty work, quality suspension parts..etc. Now I want to unload this car before it gets any worse and not even the Kia dealer wants it, my wife on the other hand is very happy and plans on keeping hers for the next ten years. In summary, I had the better car in the beginning and she has the better car at the end. Lesson learned.

This is only my 2nd video and I must confess that I have started to fall in love you guys. This is great information and a lot of consolidated research for those of us who are car shopping. The average life for my vehicles is 8 years and therefore I need to get it right and you both are helping with and for that I am grateful. God bless,

Thanks for updating the best of the most important category in this segment. It doesn't come as a surprise Honda, has added hybrid to CR-V, finally. As Honda dealers have plenty of enquiry of previous generation CR-V hybrid, as many consumers were having a huge waiting list for RAV4 hybrid, when it first introduced. In last 2 years, the waiting list for Sportage and Tucson are equally insane. Even if this compact SUV doesn't have any hybrid nor PHEV, my segment favourite remains Mazda CX-5/CX-50 2.5T. If I am going to get a hybrid compact SUV, Koreans are definitely are the top of the list. As for RAV4, I would rather lost some luggage space for more expensive Venza. Venza has much better interior ambience and more classy feel, even when both are on same underpinnings.

I just got the Tuscon a month ago with the limited trim. I absolutely love it. It drives like a luxury vehicle. I'm really happy with it and love driving it.

That’s quite a lot of information! Thanks for putting the time/research into this compilation. Great justification and logic for where each CUV fell. Cheers!

Great picks! I have to say I agree with everything you've chosen here! That doesn't happen too often for me. ;) It would be interesting to hear what the estimated wait to order these vehicles are too...that's how I made my final decision. Thanks!

Wow What a great review! I did my own research past month. Before watching this my top 3 was: 1. Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and 2. Hyundai Tucson/Santa Fe Hybrid and 3. Honda CR-V Hybrid.
I was not considering KIA Sportage, now I will definitely will check that model!
