I watched this at the movies in Kansas City back when I was about 9-years-old, then the following Easter of `96 my then 8-year-old sister received a brand new VHS copy in her Easter Basket on Easter Morning.

I remember watching this as a kid (before I was really aware of what the Vietnam war was) and remember thinking it was funny. But as an adult, I agree, it doesn't quite work as comedy about the Vietnam war. I can't put my finger on it but it kind of misses the mark. It's not easy to make a comedy about the Vietnam war but I think it can be done, look at Good Morning, Vietnam!

In memory of Captain T.C. Doyle, excuse me Ray Liotta. 1954-2022

I saw this one in the theater and I liked it more than most. The cast of this is still headscratching. It is like Danny Glover, Ray Liotta and Dennis Leary were above the material. I had heard that Denis Leary quote before, but I can't believe Disney paid any of them a ton of money to appear. This had to be a contract commitment/fulfillment movie for them. Fun fact - this was the first Disney movie to reference another Disney movie in its title.

Damn that sucks that the movie was a mess! I’m glad they took care of the elephant on set!
