Wow. The hair actually just stood straight up... on my arms. I mean... I 've been listening to these guys since I was 10 in 1980. Went back and got the first few records that came out before that. Listened to all of em' like a thousand times each. Cruised with it. Partied with it. Vibed out to it. Rocked with it, and lived my life with this. Seen em' probably 17 or 18 times in concert. And dag gone if the hair on my arms didn't just stand straight up.... again. I've lived my Life with Van Halen in every part of it. And I still can't get enough... now being 50, with a Family, Career, Mortgages.... the whole 9 yards. This stuff still means a lot to me. I know a LOT of you agree with me on this, too.

I started playing guitar 56 years ago. Had a few breaks along the way. Who inspired me to pick up a guitar each and every time I had a break? EVH !! Ah man - what a loss. But I can still push play, be inspired and pick up a guitar. Eddie's inspiration never dies. RIP Sir Eddie.

Even with Dave's old voice it still rocks.

I wonder how Eddie felt to play with his son on same stage and playing the songs that he wrote and made him so famous, how proud he would feel as a father to have Wolfie with him. Rest in peace Eddie.. We all miss you so much... it hasn't been the same without you...

I saw Van Halen in around 1977 at the Starwood club. We got tickets from a friend who was a manager at a record store called Licorice Pizza in Hollywood. I sat right in front near Eddie and got the full blast off his old Marshall amp and my ears rang for days.... Unbelievable time to live!!!!

God Bless Dave for his charisma and extraordinary motivation and performances! I wish I have that kinda activeness when I turn 60. Its almost a rarity at age 60+ to be out there performing like he used to back in the 80's. VH was and is still one of my favorites RnR bands of my lifetime! Thank you guys! RIP EVH. I hope you brought your guitar!

Man. As potent as ever. If you bottled this stuff I'd be an alcoholic in a week. RIP Eddie.

I graduated high school in 1983 so VH and Eddie Van Halen were larger than life. Nobody in Nashville, TN knew about them in early 1978 played live on a show called Midnight Special. They played Running With The Devil and I completely lost my mind. This guitarist was unlike anyone since Jimmy Hendricks. Alex's drumming was so heavy and Michael Anthony's voice (that only dogs could hear lol) was a great compliment to the premier front man of the day, DLR. Having said that, Eddie always stole the show for me. To be 20 feet away from him and watch him do what he did and just how much he loved what he was doing was magical. I still remember seeing Valerie Bertinelli just off backstage right watching her boyfriend shred that guitar and beaming with pride. When the album 1984 came out, my friends and I were in college and got together to listen to it and said "Man they just keep getting better and better and will never break up". I was devastated when the announcement came. I had just lost my favorite, cutting edge band. Then along comes Sammy : ) I really didn't think Sammy could pull it off, but when I heard 5150 and then saw them on that concert tour, I knew my Rock Gods were a while. Everybody wants to compare Sammy and Dave, but for me, it's just 2 different eras of VH and I love them both. The bottom line is we needed a band that could carry on so we could see the GOAT, Eddie Van Halen, for as long as we were blessed to have him. I'm still not over his passing and don't know that I ever will. When he got healthy again in the 2000's it was so nice to see him still loving to entertain us and strut his stuff. I'll put a couple of links in for you hardcore VH and Eddie Van Halen fans to watch and read. The first link is about Journey and Van Halen being their opening act. The second one is an interview with Eddie at The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. I hope you enjoy them. God Bless

I was 18 when Van Halen first came out back in 78 and every time i hear them i wonder how i ever got along musically before they hit the world wide open, and eddie is the most bad ass guitar player this world has ever seen, and most likely ever will, R.I.P. Mr. Edward Van Halen.

Eddie, thank you for the many years of greatness bestowed upon the seemingly endless house parties. To lose 2 of my favorite musicians (Eddie VH and Neil Peart ) in the same year has crushed me.

The Van Halen brothers from the Netherlands! Het is zo geweldig om te zien dat Nederland zoveel talent heeft. En daarmee wereldwijd scoort. Kijk naar Vandenberg van vroeger. Dutch influence...
