The Cosmere 101 | Taldain

Taldain is probably the least known planet in the Cosmere. Not because it’s a minor planet or because it’s the setting for something small like a short story or a novella. Instead it is not very well known mostly due to the fact that the story set on it, White Sand, is a graphic novel and not a conventional prose novel.

In this short video, I hope to bring to light some more information on the planet for those who aren’t as familiar with it. It’s definitely an interesting place with some unconventional features, but that’s all a part of its intrigue.

Speaking of tidally locked planets, there is something called the Isla Project here on YouTube. It is part of the speculative alien biology genre which I have been getting into. There is also the Curious Archive channel where you learn about various worldbuilding projects featuring unusual worlds and creatures.

But back to Taldain, I honestly find the fact that the planet is placed in just the ring spot between two stars to be quite novel in and of itself.

That makes so much! I didn't think return could absorb other investiture. So does that mean standing in a high storm could also replenish them as well, more dangerous though. Really cool return can just sustain themselves off taldain sunlight

I loved this comic!! Definitely one of Brandon's earlier writings, but a "less good" Samderson book is still a freaking banger!!!
One of his many books that I feel would actually be perfect for a direct screen adaptation!! Thanks for more on the Sandmasters!

One of the best Cosmere analysts out there, always love Raven’s posts!

Great one as per usual! I enjoy both the graphic novel and the free prose version Brandon sent out. I really look forward to future stories on Taldain, I want more details on the magic of dark side. Catch you on the next one!

The Cosmer needs more exposure. Keep up the good work 👍

I feel that White Sands and Taldain have so much potential for stories and influence within the Cosmere. It just does not feel the same with the graphic novel as it would with a proper novel. I did enjoy White Sand Prose though

Off topic, but I'd just like to point out that the Lord Ruler (or any other full Feruchemist and mistborn) would be _stupidly_ overpowered. And I mean aside from immortality and near-invincibility. Let me put it this way:
So you know how compounding works, right? Person can both burn a metal and draw upon a metalmind of the same material. Thus allows them to use allomancy as a supplement to feruchemy. For example, Miles Hundredlives could burn gold and get the same effect as drawing from a gold metalmind. In other words, his metalminds would be perpetually full so long as he held gold. Here's the thing: nicrosil metalminds store Investiture. So if you were to compound nicrosil, you'd have effectively unlimited Investiture... We know that raw Investiture can be used as a supplement for metals in allomancy; Vin lent her power as Preservation directly to Elend at the Battle of Hasthin. So while compounding nicrosil on it's own would be effectively useless, combine it with other allomantic powers... Or say, a Nahel bond (we know this is possible, because Hoid)...
