This is the way towards a more full understanding of consciousness. Start with what we know and understand about consciousness now, no matter how basic and limited that knowledge is. From there further knowledge and understanding can be built through the scientific method and process.

The alternative is dogma and mysticism, dogmatically declaring and asserting no further knowledge is possible, we must accept ignorance and just trust those that dogmatically tell us that only untestable ignorance is possible when it comes to consciousness.

Substitute "objectivity" for consciouness. Try it ... slices through the confusion.
Objectivity includes introspection, reprtability, boolean speculation, and the constant axiom that existence is outside of self, that should i die existence will continue unperturbed, since it is not contingent on my brain's activity.

I was under the impression that in regards to anesthetics, we know they work but we don't know how they work or why?

Dr Todd Murphy has an article published, as well as an accompanying video, called Consciousness Arises Out Of Intrinsic Property of Magnetism.

Murphy was a student of the late Dr Michael Persinger. The latter was reportedly working on the matter. The "hard problem" (consciousness) SOLVED, says Murphy.

The fact that it's surprising is a bit weird...Consciousness and experience or cellular activity are not the same.. consciousness is subtle ... consciousness is not matter or soluble, structure arises from consciousness

Well, we already know that spacetime is not fundamental, and therefore consciousness cannot be its result. This raises the possibility that matter is just a conduit for consciousness, and consciousness may be what is fundamental.

I think the main issue here is to avoid the god of the gaps trying to sneak in without first establishing that there is such a thing. I think consciousness is just awareness of self in relation to the environment. It feels like more than that but it probably is not. We are as required to be aware of the environment in order to stay alive. For example we are visually aware of a tiny spectrum of electromagnetic waves (370-400 nanometer wavelength range) out of less than a nanometer to kilometers on the other end (theoretically open ended). Why such a tiny range? Because that is what is useful to us in finding dinner, avoiding being dinner, and (in humans) finding a partner of the opposite sex to want to make some copies with us. The same with vibration of gasses we call sound. Temperature, body orientation using gravity. Would we be conscious without those stimuli? I don't know. Yet. Would that feel different from not existing or being no longer alive? I don't know. Probably not.

Any universal law underpinning the universe must, most importantly, explain self. Physics explores the creator's mind. Everyone perceives self as consciousness and free will, thus my hypothesis is that consciousness is the quantum field, and free will is the wave to particle transition. This gives biology the observed free will mechanism for controlling body movement and being the creator of new consciousness, and universal consciousness the mechanism for being the creator of the universe, the big bang, and the universal constants which allow biology to evolve.
