What I love about this show is its being a peak gag anime, while also not forgetting to have a heart. Several moments genuinely make you tear up in an show that otherwise makes you laugh and doesn't take itself too seriously

Anya actually sounding like a kid that is helpful and enjoyable to be with

Something I think a lot of people miss in the beginning is that Anya clearly lied about her age. She’s tackling material and schooling that she’s clearly too young for but has at it anyway. It’s entirely possible she’s 4 years old.

5:16 One thing I particularly loved about this scene was how much it shows Anya's mindset: she just got kidnapped by goons that were after Loid and saw someone get killed right in front of her, yet that didn't scare her half as much as the idea of ending up alone again, and Loid recognizing this is one reason he chooses to keep her.

Surprised you didn't have a win for Loid and Anya saying "Wow" in response to Yor's kick in episode 12, that moment was so funny to me that I rewound and watched it like three times before finishing the episode.

Something that often goes overlooked when Anya's playing in episode 5. She gets Loid to dress up not just as a spy, but as her favorite character/hero and she explicitly thinks of the two as very similar.

I just think it's incredibly sweet that Anya basically sees Loid as a *superhero*. Imagine seeing a kid thinking of their dad as Captain America or Goku.

I think why we love the family scenes is because it's comforting for us to see a healthy family dynamic, even if it fake at first. So many family shows have unhealthy or even outright toxic family dynamics that seeing a healthy family just living their lives is not only a breath of fresh air but a warm comforting reminder of either the dynamic our family had when we are younger or of what we wanted to have but couldn't have.

This show does a lot right. It feels like a slice of life and a shounen with high comedic value, the characters are fun and compelling making it very enjoyable to watch their interactions, the animation and ost are both outstanding and you can just tell the voice actors and animators poured their souls into making this. I can't wait for the second cour!

I think the reason why the family scenes are the best is that a lot of people can relate to them my dad was always the cook in the house and there were days EXACTLY like this with my mom and sisters groggily waking up and me having done something the day before not wanting to eat cause i was scared my dad would be mad, but he would just brush it off have me eat then talk about it later. It's even more ironic that my dad has his PhD in psychology research XD

the thing with the pool left me so tense, you do not leave kids unsupervised near a pool, especially if its empty. If there are people in it, you don't leave there side without alerting those in the pool to have extra eyes on them. I've done water therapy you can be focused on the task at hand and not realize what's going on around you.

HOW DO YOU NOT WIN THE MASK REMOVAL ANIMATION IN THE FIRST EPISODE! Aside from that dramatic point, also i am quite surprised you don't win more moments of the characters, like Loid falling on the ground exhausted but putting Anya down safely first, and others that are just consequences of overwork from Loid in both mind and body, not to mention Yor's awesome "Mommy" vibes overall.

11:35 I love the little bit of subtle foreshadowing there with Loid thinking it's amazing that Yor's brother turned out to be a decent human being, considering we later learn that Yor's brother is actually a member of the secret police whose siscon levels almost reach that of Jamie Lannister.

In episode 11 I really liked how the viewer was able to see and hear Anya’s panic in her eyes and voice when she reached the pool and her trying to handle to situation

One cool thing I noticed watching Spy x Family, you can tell when Twilight is thinking/acting like Twilight or Loid. Eyes narrowed and tired looking means Twilight. Eyes full and lively means Loid. A small detail I thought was cool.

I spot two wins you missed:
1 - P P P Penguin!!!
2 - One of the nicest storytelling tricks of the entire show: Damian LITERALLY seing Anya prettier than she is, because of much in love he is with her.

One of my favorite parts about this anime that always stuck in my mind while watching was how realistic of a character Anya is. Usually kids are just a grown-up intellect in a child's body but Anya was an actual child in all aspects, surprisingly especially with the voice acting and perfectly slurred words in a child like way.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Episode 1 fight against mobsters/politician. It was well thought and you could actually (but barely) see Twilight moving through flour smoke. Plus he was helluva cool threatening the politician after the fight.

EDIT: also no love for WOW in Episode 12? Not very Waku Waku of you :D

If the mission gets exposed Anya is likely dead. If her abilities are found it is probably even worse. I think getting her that "Anya Castle Rescue" reward is at least morally the right thing to do.

Also that Anya punch scene shows Anya has picked up traits from both parents. The physical punch from her mother, and the lying/twisting of the truth about why she threw the punch from her dad.

Did you notice Episode 5, when Loid let's go of the zip line he takes the time to put his belt back on before he hits the ground. They animate it clearly. Such little details! Loid Legend.

One of the things that I love is how they consider each other's feelings, trying to get the the best outcome in every situation. It kinda teaches everyone a lesson to how we should treat everyone. Also the fact that they don't feel like a fake family and don't force how they interact. It all feels natural. And weirdly enough, Anya acting like an actual child is perfect for me, one of the best anime in this year imo. And great video as always!
