I love how Ktm transforms lots of people into a mechanic ❤brilliant

This is hydro-mechanical cam chain tensioner. The oil pressure is what loads up the piston inside the CCT and then maintains the pressure thereby making it maintenance free, basically like hydraulic tappet.

Good video, and answered my question about needing to set the motor at TDC before changing the tensioner, some have commented on forums you need to, others not, so some confusion exists.
Mines not so noisy, but something to bear in mind for the future I feel.

How's the bike now, a good 9months since you posted the video, have you encountered any other issues, and how many Mike's have you done since you changed it.

i did this on my 2023 norden 901, got the tensioner from Rottweiler in California, ordered on a Monday it was in the bike on the Thursday afternoon, Im in the UK so was impressive. Just took old one out and put new one in as here, silent now.

Good info.BTW, Yoshimura will replace a revised mid pipe with a heel guard at no charge.I contacted them and replaced with no hassle.

Some people are saying you should have only done this at TDC but... ask yourself why.. does the engine only start up on TDC? This is a manual cam chain tensioner so I don't see a problem doing it like you did.. plus the fact we literally just watched you do it and it was fine

before removing the cam chain tensioner do you need to put it on TDC? thanks

Hello. I'm also riding the 890DUKE R. I bought Dirt Tricks TC-3 by watching your video. I exchanged the tensioner today, but the sound got louder! Do you know why?

Any feedback about the KTM Duke 890 timing chain tensioner? is it worth it?

Hey Bryan,
was the noisy sound only at cold starts or does it even sound like this when its warmed up?

hi, could you send me the link where you can buy this component? Thank you

Interesting -- usually with CCT you need to rotate the engine to TDC before removing the tensioners...

Awesome, do more 890R vids as you run into them. My 890 Just went into the shop with a Pulser Coil, a radiator thermostat, and ignition cover gasket, problem, that all started with my battery dying. (according to ktm anyway) They're charging 6 hours of labor for it, which comes out to be about 260USD in labor.

Is there a way I can send you a video of my 890? See if this is what I need

If the hydraulic tensioner isnt doing the job its likely down to low oil pressure. Changing the tensioner is a short term fix, and I suspect the low oil pressure will cause your cams to wear prematurely as is the case on thousands of these bikes.

is dangerous for the bike to ride with this sound?
