The role of the ocean in the climate system

Ocean circulation distributes heat, carbon, nutrients, and other tracers across the globe. Earth’s global ocean, therefore, plays a vital role in regulating the climate system. The Modeling Ocean Dynamics and Ecosystems Lab (MODEL) uses various techniques to study the ocean's physical, biological, and ecological aspects, to better understand our climate and its past, present, and future changes.
