I spend less without the dining plan. It can be done! I agree with Margeaux about flipping table service meals....we do lunch as TS and dinner as a quick service. Splitting the meals is a great tip too--well done!

I did Disney without the dining plan! I allowed $50 a day and only went over once. I don’t eat too much through my day. I have lunch, snack, and dinner. If you look around and do research, you can do it less than 50 a day! Children’s menu is amazing. I didn’t spend allot of time at restaurants. Research those QSR! Allot have better food options than some restaurants :) such a great video !

We used to get the dining plan all the time. I’ll be honest we will never got back to the dining plan. We have saved our receipts from the past with the dining plan and now when we went it was cheaper to buy per whatever we wanted. We always get shipit or garden Grover to deliver we normally get stuff for breakfast like bagels and cream cheese or muffins for breakfast. That saves us money right there. A case of water, snacks for when we go back at night like chips and dip or a cheese platter. Sometimes a 12 pack of Coke Zero too. Also, alcohol we get a box of wine and two six packs of beer for when we go by the pool or to enjoy in our room.
We normally skip lunch and eat a snack in the park and just have an early dinner which is cost effective. We also sometimes my husband and I split dinner we will grab an app and split dinner the portions are normally pretty big unless we are hungry that day.

Great tips! One we use in my family is we eat a light breakfast at the hotel; usually things we have brought with us like muffins and juice. Then we plan a later breakfast usually around 11/11:30 at our restaurant of choice. For most places this is their last breakfast reservations so you get the breakfast price but are eating around lunch time. Our fav meals to do this with are character meals because sometimes you get both breakfast and lunch food if it is a buffet or all you care to enjoy!

I've always found that a sit down meal is best used as a late lunch or early dinner. When it's the busiest and lines are the longest, take your hour break and enjoy a nice sit down meal at a full service restaurant. I like reserving dining at a full service near a lot of my favorite attractions or shows for around 3-5 PM, that way I get a break from the crowds and heat, I get to sit for a while and recharge for round two of in-park activities, its typically cheaper than an evening meal and FAR less crowded. I don't find the breakfast hours to be worth it because I personally can't eat much at the beginning of the day and it's just not worth that much when I could just grab a poptart or couple pieces of toast and get straight to riding rides and seeing shows. Just my two cents.

We never buy the DDP nor do we take the Free Dining preferring the room discount instead. We can mix it up & will occasionally have breakfast & dinner offsite at places like Kekes, Denny’s, Longhorn, Chilis, Bahama Breeze etc. I don’t think the DDP gives as much value as it perhaps used to.

When we go we buy individual packs of cereal we bring with us or buy at the resort along with a quart of milk which we can keep in the room fridge for some of the breakfasts.

Whats the point of spending so much $$$$ on the disney resorts if they keep taking away all the perks like extra magic horus, late night hours, and Dining plans. Not worth it inmho I'll stay at RCI Resort Silver lake right next to animal kingdom and have more spending money in the parks.
