Thanks for keeping me updated on how to do Walt Disney World. My first Disneyland visit was in 1972 and I made it to Walt Disney World in 1986. During those years it was quite possible to just show up at the gate, purchase a ticket, and have a fun time in about six hours. "Spontaneous" is no longer an option. Prior planning is a must. I'm surprised that there's no Disney app for reservations in the bathrooms--plan your potty stops six months in advance.

We just got back - couple of things restaurant wise:

Ohana - This was our only "Disappointing" reservation - the food just wasn't up to its usual awesomeness. Maybe just an off night.
Steakhouse 71 - GO! It was delicious and more kid friendly than I expected it to be.
Topolino's Terrace - If you're waffling between Chef Mickey's and this one, go to Topolino's Terrace at the Rivera. Reservations are hard to get, but the food was 10x better than Chef Mickey's and I think a touch cheaper. You only get Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy as characters, but the food (and the view) makes up for it.
Space 200 - Another hard reservation, but the experience and food are worth the extra money you'll pay for it.
Morimoto Asia - This was a fun restaurant and delicious. You'll have to leave your comfort zone for the menu a bit, but we enjoyed it.

As far as visiting other resorts, you don't need a dining reservation, you can just let them know that you're collecting pressed Pennies and they'll let you in. I did it just in August while collecting the 50th Pressed Pennies and Medallions and all the guards at the gates let us in. It also gave us the opportunity to stop at all the resort gift shops to find things we couldn't find in the parks in the sizes we needed.

Plan for the rain. Not just packing rain gear, but knowing the outdoor rides will very likely close. Watch that weather and start moving to indoor venues (like the land in Epcot) before the rain actually hits. You'll be in a perfect position to get on the attractions sooner than later when all the other people come in after its started raining.

You guys are really right on the getting up early bit. I am not a morning person it hurts to wake up early and previously as two adults we would just get to the parks when we got to the parks. Not super late but like 10 or 11. The last trip we tried to do rope drops several times to make sure we got on certain rods and I was really blown away how much more time we get in the parks it really feels like almost an additional day especially when you can hop on all those those rides so quickly. It totally changes the rest of your day because then you can be a lot more leisurely and enjoy more of the day. It hurts lol, but you got to do it to get the best experience!

There used to be this guy in Hollywood Studios -- D. C. Matthews -- who hung out near the Brown Derby restaurant and drew caricature art for park guests. I got one done of myself during me and my Sister's 40th Birthday visit to the parks. If there are any other artists like these at Disney, this is another great souvenir to get!

Pirate adventure was so fun. My 9 yo walked around Adventureland with his map, he was so cute and proud to tell us where to go.

Take time to slow down. It’s vacation. Take in the scenery and enjoy. We run run run in life and then we run run run in Disney. Take a day or even an hour to just slow down. Your body and mind will thank you ☺️

About Uber and Lyft, check both for the price of your ride! There can be a factor of two difference!

When it's open, I always plan for a relaxing tea in the Grand Floridian tea room. It's just as good as a pool afternoon.

Also, if you're in Animal Kingdom when it's raining, head for the Asia walkthrough. Those animals love rain and they come out to play!

We used to go on monorail & visit the different hotels - years ago! We also used to go to the boardwalk by the Swan Resort to ride the bikes!

Also one tip on the Mickey wake up call do not rely on the Mickey wake up call to wake you up I have scheduled it several times, and then not receive the wake up calls! Do not count on that alone to wake you up set an alarm!

Since joining DVC, we have been able to make each trip different from the trip before. Our first trip home was a stay at Jambo House with a day at Animal Kingdom. Our November trip will be a 2-night stay at the Polynesian and a day at Magic Kingdom followed by a birthday stay at Boardwalk in February and the After Hours event at Hollywood Studios. A far cry from the traditional 5-night 4-park days we used to take every other year before the pandemic.

We showed up early and were one of the first families to get to the AK entrance in 2002. We were picked as the family to open the park with Mickey, Minnie, and Donald who were dressed in their safari garb, of course. It was such a memorable time.

I laughed wayyyy too hard at Disney can make you turn on people 😂 - recalling the time my mom stomped away from us in Epcot because we insisted she, the pickiest one, choose which direction to walk into the WS for Flower & Garden food sampling 😂 AND recalling all the times as a cast member I witnessed the breakdown of a family member’s patience.
Stay strong y’all 😅

It’s that time of year again when I binge all DFBGuide videos while planning a Disney World trip.

When you’re doing the festival food map food crawls, I’ve been told by cast members you don’t have to get one of each of every item, you can get three of the same and two others or all five of the same one 👍🏼😋
