Ukraine is not ready to join NATO or the EU, Juncker says

Former president of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker cautioned against Ukraine joining Nato as a form of security guarantee. Talking to Euronews for The Europe Conversation, he also said that Ukraine should be granted limited EU membership.

Most Western politicians seem to have totally forgotten that the Soviet hammer and sickle flag was lowered for the last time over the Kremlin on December 25, 1991.That happened only a few decades ago. Expecting that Russia would suddenly become a Western democracy after centuries of Tsars and close to a century of totalitarian communism is totally unrealistic.

Russia needs at least several decades before it can even in theory become a Western style liberal democracy. Most politicians in the West have not understood this simple fact.

Both the European political left and the US Dems have tried to change Russia into a Western style liberal democracy since December 25, 1991. That has been a huge mistake in my opinion. It has only caused problems on both sides.

President Trump don`t try to change Russia. Why would he? It would only create more problems. He wants to solve problems, note cause them.

The Western political left will more than likely continue their efforts to change Russia into a Western liberal democracy. That will cause serious problems between the West and Russia also in future.

The new group of "Willing European Countries" wants "just" peace for Ukraine. That is not a realistic goal, far from it. The sooner a realistic peace deal that stops the war will get signed between Ukraine and Russia, a deal that President Trump is working for, the better for Ukraine.

The new group of "Willing European Countries" should realize this very simple fact: Russia can continue it`s war against Ukraine much longer than Ukraine can continue to defend against Russia`s war against them. And not only that. Russia can continue their war against Ukraine with much less damage to their country than the damage will be to Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy made a huge and costly mistake when he decided to start lecturing President Trump and arguing with him in front of Live TV cameras in the White House. That will delay a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia at least for several months and perhaps even longer. That delay will cost thousands of Ukrainian lives. It will also cost tens of billions of dollars more in damages for Ukraine.

Europeans plan for the Americans to be able to get Europeans into the negotiation table with Russia together with President Trump and his administration, if I have understood it correctly: Phase one: pre-negotiations, increased pressure on Russia. Phase two: cease-fire, confidence building. Phase three: peace negotiations, re-compensation, justice.

The Europeans plan sounds good, but it has one major flaw: increased pressure on Russia. That is the very opposite to what President Trump has used to start the peace process for Ukraine with Russia. Europeans are in reality trying to sell President Biden's old and failed strategy to President Trump. Trying to sell President Biden's old and failed strategies to President Trump is plain stupidity from the European leaders.

President Zelenskyy is in reality behind the European leaders' plan to sell President Biden`s old and failed strategies to President Trump, even though it was first presented by President Stubb. Google with "Finland’s Alexander Stubb Unveils 3-Phase Peace Plan" if you want to see him presenting that plan together with President Zelenskyy.

Why would President Trump include European leaders in his negotiations with Russia when they try to sell him President Biden`s old and failed strategies? European leaders would only destroy President Trump`s peace negotiations with Russia if he would let them negotiate together with him with President Putin.

European leaders and the European media have criticized President Trump for talking with President Putin without the European leaders. Why would President Trump include European leaders in his negotiations with Russia when they try to fool him to use President Biden`s old and failed strategies?

President Zelenskyy is literally playing with fire when trying to fool President Trump and his whole administration through some naive, pompous, inexperienced or stupid European leaders.

President Putin has a rare opportunity thanks to President Trump. The US has now a president who understands how to make deals with him and Russia. The next US president can again be a leftist liberal who will try to change Russia into a Western liberal democracy, or a war mongering Republican or a war mongering Democrat. So this is the right time to agree about peace for President Putin.

European leaders should have understood that this is why it would have been the perfect time to line up with President Trump and back his peace efforts with President Putin, instead of lining up behind undiplomatic President Zelenskyy. That was a huge and costly strategic mistake from the European leaders in my opinion.

not feasible Juncker because it would upset millions... social security would be cut, cut and cut. In the meantime, its subsidised by the US of A - whether you want to say that out loud or not. Europe benefits on social benefits because it doesn't have to commit where the US makes up that difference, big difference, huge as Trump would say.

He is right - Ukraine is not ready for EU membership. To become a member of the EU, three criteria established in Copenhagen in 1993 must be met. This includes stability, a functioning market economy, and the capacity to implement the EU’s regulations.

That sounds like a Hungarrian position, there is no choice and the EU needs Ukrainian skills and resources right now, more than ever. Dont give them to the Trump/Putin regime.
