Not sure using the Ukraine War as a measuring stick is a good example. The US would probably make far more effective use of munitions than Ukraine and use significantly less.

I'm not worried. The United States military is always evolving. The United States Marine Corp has disbanded it's tank battalions. The Abrams tank is a very good tank, but the logistics is overwhelming. Tanks slow down amphibious assaults, better to have superior air support than a slow moving tank. Marines with portable rockets is far more deadly than a tank or aircraft. Cheaper, highly mobile and now with the integration of drone scouts, the infantry is even more deadly.

I agree that the country cannot easily replace destroyed equipment very quickly, but for the last 10+ years the army has been training to fight a near-peer military. In most scenarios at NTC the opposing force has advantages like range, lethality and knowledge of terrain.
As the war in Ukraine has proven, we overestimated enemy capabilities, but it causes us to think differently and not just assume we are better than our adversaries.

The United States was not prepared for the First and Second World Wars either. But he had the knowledge, economic power, and ability to prepare and decide the outcome of the war when the political decision was made.

The U.S. doesn't need so much hardware, it's military doctrine and training has proved that its intelligence, strategy, good morale that wins wars, not just hardware. The Gulf War more than proved that just because you are one of the worlds largerst and powerful army (on paper) doesn't mean your soldiers will not take of their uniforms and run once the U.S. military arrives. Every tank I worked with the whole 4th Division was a M1A2SEP. That was 2001. There are no armored units in the whole of the United States military that uses the M60 tank. That would be the equivalent of a Russian T80. Our basic M1A1 Abrams completely decimated the whole of the Iraqi Army with T72 and T80 tanks without a single tank lost. which we were incredibly successful with pre M1A2SEPs and pre-Force21 in 2003. Don’t doubt our ability to wage war has decreased a single bit.

I'm gonna have to disagree. The US just gave out some of the old supplies. It wouldn't take much to go to full service of equipment and arms. The money spent now is for normal operations.

So it sounds like to me that Militaries the world over are going to need to find a balance between quality, quantity, economy and longevity in their gear.
