Michael addition example reactions

This video has three example reactions of the Michael addition. Example 1 has an alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone being attacked by an amine. Example 2 has an alpha,beta-unsaturated ester being attacked by an enamine. The initial adduct between the Michael acceptor and donor has an iminium ion, which is hydrolyzed to give the ketone product. Example 3 has an alpha,beta-unsaturated nitrile being attacked by a thiolate. The thiolate is generated in the reaction by deprotonation of a thiol with a weak base. All three of these reaction show possible variations in the structure of Michael acceptors and Michael donors.
