The Power of Why: Unlocking a Curious Mind | Francesca Gino | TEDxTrentoStudio

We are all born curious. Yet, as we grow older, our curiosity diminishes. We fear judgment, worry about the impression we’ll make on others if we ask questions, or decide that exploring new ideas is a waste of time. But curiosity, it turns out, is critical for thriving at work and in life—and losing it affects everything from our productivity to our happiness. The good news, says Francesca Gino, is that we can recapture that inquisitive instinct. Learn why curiosity is so important and what you can do to foster it, in yourself and in others.

I hope that instead of taking this video down that TED keeps it up but ads a disclaimer up front, or maybe reupload it with a disclaimer. It is important for people to understand what misleading information looks like. It is commonly known that misinformation comes from shady websites, Facebook posts, or uncited memes, but that's not the only way misinformation makes it way to the public. All it takes is the backing of a major university like Harvard and the TEDx brand name and suddenly messages are simply trusted. The thing is that these are sources that should be trusted, but when people abuse this system they end up creating distrust in experts. This is why ethics is so important. It is also why we shouldn't criticize and cancel those who question experts and the validity of their studies.

Why truly is an excellent question. Like "Why did you fake that data?" and "Why do you think it was ok to lie to so many people?"

Academia is truly broken if people like her make it to the top

Thanks for this video with a dishonesty expert, who can contribute invaluable practical experience to the subject matter of dishonesty.

She's a complete fraud. I can't believe she decided to take Harvard to court for more personal gains out of this whole saga instead of taking accountability for her actions. This is serious stuff too.

At least a few of her papers is based on comprised data. Please be aware of possible misleading even from the prof of Harvard.

Even if TED doesn't add any disclaimer, the comment section is certainly doing its job

One of her book's titles (quite unsurprisingly) is: Rebel Talents: Why it pays to break the rules at work and in life.

I can't even 😂😂😂

Please keep this video up and signpost it with a disclaimer so that people know in what forms fake information gets labelled as trustworthy.

She clearly had a stamp of trustworthiness that people like Harvard and TEDx added to. She was invited to speak at Google and Harvard Business Review and yet the same research which afforded her access to some of these stages has now been proven to be false. An important lesson to remind people that just because someone has a stage or has a mark/seal of approval from others, doesn’t mean we abandon our critical thinking faculties.

Also we need better peer review systems clearly. This system is broken. How much more of this is out there?

TEDx still not added an update or disclaimer in October 2024… why?

She didn't even put the effort to fake the data correctly.. Did she really expect to never be caught?

We look down on adults who are still curious.
We behave like this is only for children

She has made me believe that do not believe in thinkers but believe in those who take action.

Think for yourself and know yourself.

Outrageous fraud

Why did you falsify data Francesca? Let's start there for "why"

What you’re watching is someone with amoral, manipulative and sociopathic personality traits. Use this video to see if you can spot the signs yourself.

Fortunately, I don’t have to finish watching this video since I know she has been discredited. Perhaps the American Counseling Association has a position for her; she would fit right in over there.
