My most anticipated set of the year quickly became the set the upsets me the most. With LEGO Star Wars pushing fans and their pricing to the limits, the Desert Skiff and Sarlacc Pit start to feel like another failed Star Wars venture, The Star Wars Hotel...

They absolutley have pushed it too far, something needs to change. Or dont change and just let the value catch up to prices.

$80 bucks for that? Yikes. I was guessing it would have been at most $50. But $80? Sheesh.

For that price, I’d rather see the second skiff (with more guards) and a minimalist Sarlaac pit like those we’ve seen in the past.

They keep doing this until people stop paying those prices. Vote with your wallets, complaining wont change it.

I think the problem is they know people are still going to pick it up regardless of price unfortunately.

Well, at least now you understand why Anakin hated sand so much

Even if they included 2 skiffs this is still 60 bucks at the most.

LEGO Star Wars, in my opinion, have been robbing fans for a long time now, inaccurate and not as detailed figures as other themes and of course the now extortionate pricing, being the main issues. Over the last 12 months I have sold off almost all my Star Wars lego and purchased no new sets, except for the Brickheadz. A big turnaround considering i used to buy nearly every new Star Wars set released.
Holly your channel is killing it, thanks for the greatl content!

80 $ is crazy. Fortunately managed to get it for 55$, and for that price I absolutely love this set, especially due to Luke/Lando and 25th exclusive. Great review!

I saw this last night at Target, and it's the one I want the most because of the figures. But $80?! I carried it around in store for awhile, but when it was time to check out, I just couldn't do it. No way! Not for that much. And now literally, I've spent all day today questioning if I even want to continue with Lego anymore. When I want a set I get a set. But it has to be worth it to me. And this whole August wave is too damn much!

I’m loving Holly’s Lego Star Wars hater arc

You can take off the two stenders at the very front and the very back of the ship and then put them on the middle stender to display the ship higher

The price needed to drop to at least $60 (if not further) and it would help a lot to get a Jabba's Goons battle pack. A nice bonus for a battle pack would be if they included pieces and instructions to make the skiff here a little bigger, and alternate instructions as an add-on for Jabba's barge. This way fans could get 3 of the battle pack, 1 for the default build, one for the skiff add-on, and one for the Jabba's barge add-on- AND you'd have 12 of Jabba's goons to flesh out the 2 pricy sets!

Gotta love when Lego releases avoidable shelf warmers when all it takes to combat is to make the product slightly cheaper: some things just never change

The sarlacc pit is oversized so it can correctly scale to the ucs sail barge in October

I find the "DLC" aspect of this set to be a strong point! I love that people can have a tasty slice of this iconic scene without needing the eventual big boy barge, and I hope LEGO continues this for future deluxe sets. My primary issue is that there are no skiff guards to complement, so the scene feels empty. Second being that the pit feels too rectangular, albeit at some angles it looks appropriate.

ROTJ's first act is easily one of my favorite things out of all of Star Wars, and I was likewise first disappointed when this set was revealed. I think the price is not as bad - it feels like a better value than the Endor Speeder diorama for comparison.

This set is kind of like the 2020 General Grievous Starfighter. It’s a great model with one scene inaccurate minifig, but it’s just too expensive.

As an accountant, appreciated the business expense joke. I agree though, it’s not worth it until minimum of 30%!

Wanna know something funny? Both the 2012 and 2017 Desert Skiff adjusted for inflation are still CHEAPER than the 2024 version (and in those two you get basically the same figs + 2 actual skiff guards and a SECOND Desert Skiff) and its probably still cheaper to buy those two nowadays since they really havent gone up in value

I realized why Lego still pulls this shit nowadays, because people will but it. After making a poll in reddit back when it got announced the ammount of people defending it and saying "Its defnitly a day 1 purchase!" was just worrying. If lego SW fans in general would just stop buying mediocre products then Lego would change, because no matter how many terrible reviews the set gets, Lego will still win if someone buys the set

Big W listed the set at roughly $66usd and with the extra 10% off it's $60usd which seems a much fairer price. I don't like basing sets off the dxy though.
