Is the new LEGO TIE Bomber any good?

Time for a quick review of 75347 TIE Bomber.
Is it good? Yes. Yes, it is good, a nice set at a solid price point.
What’s interesting is how it appears to be designed for adults first and foremost. Note that the cockpit window looks fine on display, but doesn’t work as well for play, as the pilot can’t actually see through it. Note also the very simple flick-fire missiles that must be pushed manually through the hull, which make it, again, more suited to display than rough and tumble play.
This is no bad thing, of course, and there’s absolutely no reason why a younger LEGO fan won’t also love this set. It’s just worth bearing in mind.

Just as well, since the kids who bought the original TIE Bomber set in 2003 are now adults who've waited 20 years for LEGO to do a proper rendition of this ship.

As someone who still likes to actually play with their LEGOs (don't judge) I'm very much looking forward to getting this set.

Awesome set. Had a lot of fun building it and it looks great on display

The set needs a bomb dropping function. What it has are flick-fire missiles pointed at the ground.

Lego really knocked it out of the park with this one

I also want to add the the cockpit tends to flip up when you swoosh it, as it is hravy for its hinge & there is no locking mechanism to hold it in place.

It would’ve been cool if they made the Gonk droid with the Container piece, similar to the original Gonk. Original one had the unique print which was pretty cool, and had room to store things, just like the actual utility purpose of the Gonk

I am a young twelve year old Lego fan and have a decent collection, all my sets go on display

I immediately copped mine when it came out alongside the new clone trooper set with the turret

When I was a kid I much preferred the “display” sets compared to the “playsets”. They just looked incredibly better and yes I still enjoyed playing with them and moc building

Crazy how it’s been 20 years since the last time bomber was released, wish it had more bombs though, not a fan of the 4 flick fire missiles.

I’ve noticed this change in perfecting a design than adding play features recently. This and the AT-TE are the perfect design for said model yet kinda lacks in playability. Same with the 2020 AT-AT

Nah, it's clearly a kid focused playset compared to other sets. The flick bombs have a gaping 2x2 hole on the bottom AND the top. Older star wars sets had features too but they were much more hidden. There have been more subtle and convenient ways to drop bombs; like with levers and Technic pieces.

The terrible space utilisation of the build and unhidden stud launchers in the smack bang middle of the ship also speak to this.

This set takes away the subtle play features we had in older sets for 'massive, obtrusive holes so we can insert play features'

The ship is kind of boring to build (maybe I was too in a hurry to see it built)

She is beautiful!!! But I do miss more storage room like old sets used to have.

I get it today. It's good. Although I'm more for Clone Wars.

Tbh my only problem with it is that the wings look a bit weird as the grey outline is too thick
