Honestly these are adult Lego sets that really encourage builders to be mechanics. Mechanics deal with these issues all the time. Especially with interference fit fasteners. Also, let's be honest. The AT-AT is being purchased by people who will not disassemble once built and collectors who won't open the box. They know their market.

If I got it I would not be very happy with that part of the set as if it ended up falling off my shelf and breaking it wouldn’t be too easy to repair. I really don’t care while billing it but it’s a small thing that no one knows but you remember after it’s finished.
Still a lovely set and I would love to get it

I was able to easily take it apart after replicating the build. Lego pieces have enough wiggle room to be able to get your fingernails up underneath the technic axle.

I remember back in the original Bionicle sets, the eye pieces and the faces weren't designed to be separated once combined. The community quickly invented a tool made entirely of Lego pieces that could separate these pieces easily.

Im really surprised that people were using knives or blades to get that piece out when I was little I used to make something like that and I just used my nails lol

I don’t really think it’s a big deal tbh, the response video made a seemingly good way of undoing it. I think it’s a bit absurd for people to say to recall all of the sets for this reason. Like in the wall-e set it was justified because it was flimsy. But in this case it seems pretty sturdy. Yeah if it falls over and breaks then it’ll be a bit of a time consuming process to fix it, although I don’t believe it’s happening so frequently where it’s a issue that you maybe have to do it a couple of times. If you buy it for parts for some reason then you literally take it apart like a few times as well.

The technics can be so hard to take apart some times!! My jeep wrangler’s front wheels always got screwed up and it was so hard to take a bunch of stuff apart just to fit two pieces together so I can turn it left😢

While not impossible the mountain cave is incredibly difficult today take apart I had to experience that first hand after mine fell and I had to fully disassemble it

I am super relieved to know there is a safe way to take this set apart because when I eventually move into my own place my plan is to disassemble and repackage all my sets for safe transport and this UCS AT-AT is one of them
