a bit overweight sure, but she isn't fat, but then i love her kind of curvy. the issue is when someone is reaching over 135kg/20+stone, society now makes us out to be the bad person for raising concerns about their health.

i have a female friend who's maybe 350lb and its frankly heart breaking to see, but its so hard to help them, especially if they dont think theres a problem, even though she sometimes has issues breathing, joint pain, and struggles walking up a hill.

The thing is, as a society we are used to 600 pounder obese people even being called "chubby"

I'm willing to bet at a doctor with height and weight measurements she'd hit Obese. Not MORBIDLY OBESE. But obese still.

Man in my opinion she ain't even fat. You plug those numbers into what I was actually expecting (muscled af, muscle is heavier than fat) it would give borderline obese. For someone who could lift twice their bodyweight. BMI sucks in general

200 pounds ain't fat if you're 8 feet tall . It's a matter of perspective.

Look I'm female, 5'5" and over 200lb, I'm obese. I doesn't necessarily look like it because I have a lot of muscle but I know I need to lose fat and have been working on it. Denial WILL keep you stuck in your situation

BMI = bloody moron index

Using that over simplified scale, my child would've been "obese" at birth🙄🤦

Something I’ve always heard being on the taller end of the male spectrum was that BMI doesn’t mean much alone it’s based on your general day to day health and how you look as well as how you weigh.

I was very much so obese at 300lbs at 17, took 2 years of work but i eventually got to the range I’m in now a bit later after that goal was reached. I’m about 190-220lbs, 6’2” and weight was depending on when I have it measured so at the higher end I’d sometimes be in the obese range. But I still looked pretty slim overall, I have a very little bit of loose skin and I’m trying to build a caleshtenics routine before I put in even more effort to go to the gym. It’s a nice step in between to build the initial strength and habit which makes the transition much less jarring. But even if I’m fairly skinny in a healthy way normally, or a little bit chubby around holidays I still end up sometimes being put in the high overweight or low obese category. But I compare myself to what I did before and find it more helpful than a trivial BMI measurement alone

It seems like most people can't tell what overweight/obese look like because we got too desensitized with too many people being overweight/obesed.

Story 1: It’s a good thing that OP knew the right person to talk to. That stupid mechanic and that idiot manager should be reported to the attorney general or licensing authority for auto mechanics, if one doesn’t know the proper person. OP is not the jerk, glad those three were fired.

She might be a little overweight. But she wears it well and she’s not obese.

My brothers lady is about 180 pounds… she is slim and skinny! She is a steel fitter(welder). She is as slim as an hour glass, why is there such standards!?

If this was 1960 then that height/weight would be an outlier, most would agree fat in that generation. Compared to 2024 western peers, that's average or possibly slightly below, which I guess shifts the dial on 'what is fat?'

It all depends on your height. For example if you’re 180 cm tall and you’re 85 kilos, you’re not obese, but might be a little bit overweight. I’m 180 vm tall, and there was a time, when I was 55 kilos, and it was terrible. I was underweight, I was sick all the time, because my immune system messed up, I felt dizzy. Now I’m 85 kilos, I need to loose 5-6 kilograms and that would be perfect for my body

Look at her smile. She isn't fat, she is perfect.

Compare to some of the other woman around her weight, she is not all that bad looking and she carries it well. No over hanging beer gut or arm flaps.

I mean, *I* don't think so. Can we all agree that as long as someone isn't built like a "heroine chick" or mobidly obese, it's fine?

She is overweight. However, she is not obese. The issue with the BMI scale is that mass is both from fat and muscle. She is not obese by any means.

I knew someone who was obsese because he was 7’2 and stick thin (he looked it anyway).

Appearance always doesn’t match BMI
