banjo kazooie is my favorite game. he never pulls out a gameboy. the only time is in the select screen. you don't even need to wait. it is just the animation. when you sit still, kazooie will just peck banjo's head.

I like in Metroid Prime how Samus will start looking around and your crosshairs actually move around too.
Also I've never played Skyward Sword but I'm genuinely surprised to see Link falling asleep on a toilet in an official game.

Earthworm Jim has some great idle animations. My favourite is when he takes himself out of the suit and uses himself as a skipping rope 😅

Correction: In Gang Beasts, the octopus or kraken appears no matter what you do, even if you are attacking.

Edit: I think it's the same with the other water maps, where the sharks also would attack you no matter what you do.
Edit2: In multiversus or platform fighters in general they all have this type of thing

The gang beast ones just happens. It doesn't matter even if your AFK or not they still happen. Might as well say Ferris wheel, fan, and boat sinking are AFK occurrences, these were meant to be in the game.

2:17 the tentacles grab you if you're fighting or not, i've had experience in online mode (getting killed by that octopus at least 10 times)

Also, for the I'm Outta Here one, Sonic 2 has a second idle animation where if you sit still for long enough after the tapping foot animation he'll eventually lay down on the ground and tap his knees in a similar fashion.

Here’s an additional one

In elixir (oculus 2) before the witch goes afk, she tells you not to touch anything. Which you are meant to do. But if you don’t, it starts off by saying something, then something again. After long enough it says something along the lines of “so yeah I’m the developer and I don’t know if you have noticed yet but you are meant to touch something” I don’t remember much because I did it 2 years ago but yeah
