Directors Statement
When I first sat and listened to the record, I couldn’t get the beat out of my head more than anything. I felt like I had to do something afterwards. Whether that was tapping my foot, head banging to the chorus or pretending I was teen me moshing at a live gig again.

I realised the most important part of the music video had to be reflecting the pace and energy of the song. That, while you were sucked into the performance during the video, afterwards you would want to get away from your computer and start dancing. I think that’s what I love about live music. And I wanted to emulate via a video that energy. How, in one room, we can all get sucked into one moment in time and somehow (supernaturally) we all move and act as one.

As far as the concept itself, that came with this being my first music video as a director. I knew that I needed to do something that was comforting, nostalgic and fun. So, naturally, that meant a 90’s, Goosebumps inspired horror concept. It felt on brand for the rock aspect of the track as well as the narrative. Not only that, but being able to work with Blink Vivid as well as a condensed version of my usual team was a dream come true and I couldn’t have done it without their hard work, their imagination and their ability to be playful with their skillset.

Awesome video, and awesome track as well! Uncertain Joys is a great album. Been a fan ever since 2006, or 2007, after seeing them perform "Oh Yeah" on a late night show in the US (unfortunately, cannot remember which one for certain now, but had to be either Leno or Conan, since those were the only 2 I watched back then). Went out the very next day, picked up Young For Eternity, and have been a fan ever since. Sadly, have only had the opportunity to see them live, once, but hope to again, before I die...😁. I sincerely miss Josh, really loved to see him play, but love to see Camille beat the H**l out of those drums now, too, though!! 🙂
