When comparing data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts, it might be easiest to picture them as their namesakes. Each data repository is designed to store data, but in different ways.

A data warehouse, like a physical warehouse, is highly organized and only stores data from specific sources. A data mart is a highly curated, highly specific way of curating data for particular teams or purposes. And, a data lake stores a variety of data types in a less structured, free flowing way -- like water molecules in a lake.

You mentioned that both, Datawarehouses and Data lakes, are good to handle massive amounts of data. What if the company handles smaller/medium amount of data? What technology do they use to store the data?
