I’ve shot an M249, I’ve shot an M2, and even a Mk19, but the M240 holds a very special place in my heart. It’s a very nice weapon in my book.

I was kind of bitter carrying the tripod for this beast at first but I truly have a deep appreciation after everythings said and done a decade later. I remember the weapons team(gunner, assistant gunner, and ammo bearer) would always fall on one man after injuries and whatnot. One man carrying the 240, tripod AND ammo on long marches, and still using the weapon effectively. That took some real heart to be a gunner on one of these
