Does risk to reward actually matter in trading?

You may have been told higher risk to reward in trading is better, but this is only half the story. Chasing RR may be holding you back from profitability. In this video I'm going do discuss how risk to reward ratio works, as well as more advanced topics like dynamic and true risk to reward. When you understand these concepts, your phycology when trading will improve, so you can more accurately follow your trading plan and reach profitability.

Not financial advice.

Liked this alot. Used to favor 1:10+ RR systems but as you mentioned - floating loss becomes a real problem plus the additional time re entering trades starts to accumulate fatigue which makes you trade worse. Tried 1:1 and results are soo much better + much less screen time. Subscribed!

This is very good ! As a scalper, my R:R is not a nice one: I often risk 5 to earn 2. But I tend to move quickly my SL to BE whenever possible. I only need to have more than 70 to 75% W/R to be able to make it. And that's how it works for me. Thanks for this crash course !

Your video really explains what I am experimenting. Thank you very much. I was feeling like I am a bad trader because I found profitability on a 1:1 RR while I see on social media always 1:5 or 1:10 that’s makes me failed. In my experience a 1:1 RR happens 9/10 times while the 1:10 RR could happen 4/10.

Been through it. From aim high win rate and goes to opposite to high risk reward. Seeing other setup from other trader makes me tired. Now i just trade alone, close trade when I feel like it, while keep my emotion in check

My risk management :
Risk per trade : 2% or 2 positions (1% + 1%)
RR : 1 to 4
Winrate : 40%

The trading goes be like :
If the trade hit 1:2 i will TP a half and let another 1% running to whole RR ( 4 ) ..If it does hit 1 to 4 i will get 2:6 or 1:3 RR in total.

Am i still good to go in the long run?

i agree for the most part, but i see so manny trades "flexing" their win ratio aswell, same problem there, they have awfull risk to reward so its basically the same as you explained just the other end of the i have had very negative win ratio and still made over 100% on my account with a PROPPER risk managment😁 except i broke my daily trades rule🙈

My strategy is 2:1 and I find it so profitable. I passed two ftmo challenges without fail

So I believe 2=1 is more than enough if you stick to it

Are you going to let a winner become a loser because it didn't hit your expectation ? Does the market care ? What if the probabilities of hitting 10 x 5 pip winners were higher than 1 x 50 pip winner ? Just take what it gives, it's all about finishing with more than you started. Then there are other factors which add to the risk, time in market to achieve the 1:10 etc gives greater exposure to random BS tweets, dropping of Swiss peg type events . In short get in and get out.
